My grandfather was awarded the Medal of Honor of the Red Ribbon in 1960 I think and I was trying to find out more information. I've looked at various sites that list the reasons why the medal is given but I was looking for a little more information like how many people are awarded this particular medal of honor and how many foreigners are awarded the medal. The red ribbon is for risking your own life to save others and I know that around 1959-1960 a building caught on fire/exploded and he saved four Japanese citizens. Thank you for any help anyone may offer!!

I looked up 紅綬褒章 (Koju Houshou/Red Medal) on internet.
Unfortunately lists of the people awarded in 1960 are not available - Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications makes official announcement but even the list for 2011 was already deleted. (Maybe the lists are too long?)

Thank you for trying! On one site the gentleman said that the Japanese government makes books that list the recipients from each year but I think those would be hard and expensive to find.
