I wondered if anyone could explain me more about 'Kekkon Oiwai Kin'..?
I tried to search online and also on this forum but couldnt find anything.
I will be getting married to my Japanese fiancee, and his father mentioned that if we marry before he retires (heh
), he is going to get some money from his employer. My fiancee said this is called Kekkon Oiwai Kin. I got curious of this, since I've never heard of such thing!
Is this a common thing in all companies/employers in Japan..? Paying a certain amount of money to their employees if one of their children gets married? Is there some symbolic meaning, is it religious related or...? Is this an old tradition?
Any little bits of info is welcome, I found this interesting... and sort of funny as well
