May I ask, who writes/collates these articles? They're so informative and clear and I'd like to give them a solid pat on the back!

I have dozens of them in the pipeline, some started in the early 2000s, but never finished. I use the sources listed, plus the Cambridge History of Japan, to get the bigger picture and rely heavily on Japanese Wikipedia. I have also started collecting Japanese history books; those (second-hand) sources are readily available on Amazon Japan and surprisingly reasonable. I'm waiting on an illustrated History of the Boshin War for less than 1,000 yen! However, deciphering them is pretty challenging and time-intensive.

I run the articles through a spellchecker and polish my crude English with Grammarly. The articles focus on topics I'm personally interested in and are not meant to be too academic; instead, I consider them "encyclopedic." Yes, I do realise that many of them are probably just of interest to no one else but me.

I'm truly amazed by your passion and dedication to write these articles and their high quality! I love reading them as they often given me the background to understand other accounts to obtain a wider perspective.
