Kōenji Hyakkei language sung in?

Does anybody have any clue as to what language this band sings in?

They do not sound Japanese or English to me...so, others anyone?

I picked up an album of theirs Angherr Shisspa (put out state-side by Skin Graft Records), which includes what appears to be lyrics for the songs in the liner notes.
They do not seem like any of the few languages I've come across.


The wikipedia Kﾃ?稿nji Hyakkei - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia page on them says it is unclear what language it is and might be a mixture of languages.

Japanese Wikipedia simply mentions that their language is a coined-language... It is not any existing language.
If anything, it seems to be based (?) on 'Kobaïan' which is another made-up language by a French group Magma.

After I posted and left I realized I probably should have posted either a youtube video link or
link to a lyric sample. Gomenasai. Again, arigatoo.

This has been stuck in my player and just days before Christmas I brought it to work
and one coworker called it some sort of bizarre christmas music.

Where did you hear of this band? They sound really interesting. I might have to look them up. What kind of music are they?

I have an affinity for sort of "off kilter" or interesting music, if you will.

Over the years I've seen or friends have turned me on to some other Skin Graft Records bands.
Maybe some band came through town at the local punk venue and they happened to put
something out on Skin Graft.

Checking SG's website one day I saw a band with some Japanese style artwork/kanji.
Youtube Kōenji Hyakkei and there you have it.

I don't necessarily like the "genre" label given to them, so I choose to ignore it. "progressive".
I have invented a description though to describe them: this band won't melt the snow, it will melt the ground beneath the snow.
Not sure if they'd like that description or not. But it is at least one description I told a coworker.
