Tourism Junglia theme park opened in Okinawa

Okinawa's new nature theme park, Junglia Okinawa, will open on 25 July 2025. Located on a 60-hectare former golf course spanning Nakijin and Nago, the park is a project of Katana, a Japanese entertainment and marketing company. Katana CEO Tsuyoshi Morioka, known for his successful revitalization of Universal Studios Japan (including initiating plans for the Wizarding World of Harry Potter), is leading the development.

Attractions include a zipline, a shaky suspension bridge challenge and hot air balloon rides over the jungle. Visitors will also be invited into the jungle to fend off or perhaps run from dinosaurs. Dining and spa facilities will offer views of the jungle stretching to the horizon. Junglia Okinawa, operated by Japan Entertainment, aims to attract visitors from East and Southeast Asia, where 2 billion people are a four-hour flight away. The park is also intended to give tourists a reason to explore the northern part of the main Okinawa island.

Junglia Okinawa has set higher prices for foreign visitors. For parkgoers outside Japan, a one-day pass will cost 8,800 yen ($56.6) for adults and 5,940 yen for children, including tax. Adult residents of Japan, meanwhile, will pay 6,930 yen, with kids getting in for 4,950 yen. Spa admission will be extra. The presales of travel packages that include admission tickets started yesterday.

Preparations are underway for the opening of the theme park "JUNGLIA" in northern Okinawa Island.

At a press conference held in Tokyo on January 28, it was announced that the park's official name would be "JUNGLIA Okinawa" and that it would officially open on July 25, 2025.

JUNGLIA Okinawa is themed around an exciting and luxurious journey, "PowerVacance!!," offering experiences that cannot be found in urban areas.

Utilizing the natural landscape of Yanbaru, the park will feature 22 state-of-the-art attractions, restaurants using locally sourced ingredients, a spa facility, and other unique experiences.

At the press conference held by Katana Inc. and Japan Entertainment Inc., the opening date of July 25 was confirmed.

Junglia, Japan's newest theme park inspired by jungle safaris and dinosaurs, officially opened its doors today in Nakijin, northern Okinawa. The park offers an exciting alternative to the island's well-known beach resorts and aquariums. Spanning roughly 60 hectares—about the size of 84 soccer fields—Junglia has been developed on a former golf course, integrating more than 40 attractions, restaurants, and shops into the lush subtropical landscape. Visitors can enjoy high-energy rides, dinosaur-themed adventures, hot-air balloon rides with sweeping jungle views, and even an open-air bath with scenic vistas of the southern island.



The park's operator, Japan Entertainment, hopes Junglia will help boost tourism in Okinawa's less-travelled north, while also tapping into the growing travel market across Asia, given Okinawa's proximity to Southeast Asia. Over the next 15 years, the park's economic impact is projected to reach around ¥6.8 trillion (approximately $46 billion).

To accommodate both domestic and international demand, Junglia has introduced a two-tier pricing system: general admission for residents of Japan aged 12 and older is set at ¥6,930 ($47), and overseas visitors will pay ¥8,800. For children aged 4 to 11, tickets are priced at ¥4,950 for residents and ¥5,940 for nonresidents. The open-air spa carries an additional fee.
