Japan's shinkansen bullet trains connecting Tokyo and Osaka will stop onboard meal service this fall for most passengers due to waning demand and a shortage of workers.

Times are changing. I didn't always buy from the food cart, but it was a nice part of the trip. I always felt it made the trip feel a little more classy.
 
I rode the line and it was always nice to have a beer or some beers. LOL
Times are changing, but I think people also just do not have that much free spending money these days. Also, more people now are into auto camping. Maybe that has something to do with it.
