Jlpt

I've been learning Japanese for about a year now and I'm interested in taking the JLPT, I know I'd only get a level 4 or 3 at best but it'll be a big encouragement. Can I take it in the UK or can it be only taken in Japan?

Also, how would I organise taking it, I can't seem to find anything on the Internet.

There's not much point thinking about the JLPT yet, you can't even apply until about August and the actual test is not until December. Thats almost a whole year.

This shop sells JLPT past papers in the UK if you are interested though.

If you start cracking, you can perhaps be ready for the level 3! You can take it in select cities around the globe, but as stated before, it's only given once a year for some mysterious reason.

It's always been my opinion that people who are considering taking JLPT levels 4 or 3 should take the money that they're planning on putting towards the registration fee (and travel) and put it towards another good textbook, grammar reference, dictionary or what have you.

Or get your hands on some actual Japanese reading material (a short story collection, a video game, whatever you fancy) and try to read as much as you can. You'll see how far you've come and how far you have left to go, and that should motivate you far more than the prospect of studying for the JLPT.

(Or if it doesn't motivate you, then maybe you need to think about why you're studying Japanese.)
