Who is going to take the JLPT this year, what level, and where are you planning on taking it?

Only 2 months to go, so I still have a lot to study for, but because I am taking a step back this time and taking the N3 it shouldn't be that difficult. I know that N3 is kind of meaningless for getting a job here in Japan but I just want to pass the JLPT and do that with an easier step.

I am trying to learn with flashcard applications on my Ipod Touch and I have some books. How do you study? do you know where to practice for the test online etc.
 
There are five levels in JLPT test. Do I have to pass kyu 5 in order to attend the examination of kyu 4? Which JLPT do I need to communicate to Japanese?
 
No, you take whichever level you're most suited to take. You don't have to work your way up. They have an FAQ on their site:

you need none. in fact i know many people that have JLPT 1 and can barely speak, as they focused mainly on their passive language skills. each exam follows certain pattern, and passing it does not necessarily guarantee that you will speak the language.

Am I the only one who is taking it this year from this forum?

Anyway, I am studying hard (waking up 1 hour earlier every day to study for about 45 minutes)
 
I'm taking N1 in Finland. The panic is starting to set in!

No, I've never taken the test before. I just never got around to it, really. I've been to Japan 3 times for a month, and I'll be moving over there come Spring 2012.

I'll be taking it in Helsinki, Finland. It's the only place to do it around here.

Got my test voucher today, and will be doing it at Kwansei Gakuin University... Still got a lot of stuff to practice, especially grammar.
 
BTW if you need some help with the last minute studying and testing, JOI is doing a course of preparation lessons for all levels - not too late to sign up for some here

Will be taking JLPT N4 in December in Sydney. Wish me luck.
 
Really wanted to take a break from studying Japanese, that's why I haven't given my opinion on the test yet.

The last time I took the test was about 3 years ago, and since then some things have changed.

Clock

I can remember a couple of years ago they had a clock in the room, and they informed us 5minutes before the end that we only had 5 minutes left. This time there was no clock, and they did not inform us about the time. Since I didn't bring a watch with me ( I know it was written down on the application paper ) so I stressed out a little bit in the beginning.

The vocabulary and Kanji wasn't too hard and the reading part went a lot better than I expected. I am pretty sure that I have passed it, since I had enough time left and knew a lot of answers.

How about the rest?
 
Yeah I know, the kanji are really easy for their level I think. I will be taking n3 next year in July then n2 in December.
 
I took N4 this year.. I originally wanted to take N3 or N2 but I knew I'd have loads of stuff to work on for school, so virtually no time to study for the JLPT, plus my level last year was much higher because I used to spend 2 hours daily studying the language, something which I can't afford to do now, so I thought I might be overestimating my current level... either way, the exam was OK.. I think I'll probably pass, but whatever the results I intend to take N2 next year.. just need to start my preparation earlier..
 
How are you going to prepare for it?
 
I took N1 this year in Chicago. I have an N2 but I didn't pass N1 last year. I also studied my butt off this year! I hope we all did well.
I used [耳で覚える・Mimi de oboeru] because it comes with a cd that lets you listen to grammar example sentences over and over. I put it on my iPod and it was a huge help. I also used [総合まとめ・Sougou matome] which comes in all subject areas and is really great.
