Japanese names

Just curious about something. I know Japanese has both male and female names, are any considered unisex?
English has a few, sometimes with a alternate spelling, for example: Terry and Terri, Vivian and Vyvyan, Ashley and Ashleigh. Some don't even have alternative spellings ie: Lesley, Marion, Hilary.

Marion/Marian and Lesley/Leslie have alternate spellings, BTW. Even the simple Lee/Leah.

Thank you both for the info. Another question then. Do they change the kanji to differentiate if the name is given to a boy or girl, like alternate spelling in English, or do the kanji remain the same?

@Glenski: I remembered the different spellings when you posted them up. I just forgot, although I have seen both spellings for Leslie used for both men and women.

Sometimes, people of either sex just use the onyomi reading of their kanji. For example, kei, kou, shou, etc. So these are "unisex" names.

haha so we went to out to dinner last night and one of the guy server's name was sakura.... that just doesn't sound right.

"Tatsuya" its a japanese name, I guess, I've a japanese friend who's he's name is "Tatsuya"
