Was a little iffy on if this was the correct forum, but I thought I'd post anyway.

Here is the problem. While I see Japanese text fine on the web and have IME set up, I am running into the problem where I am trying to use a Japanese game site (like Yahoo's game set up in a way) and it downloads a program to play/set up the games. However, for some reason it shows gibberish instead of Japanese characters when inside the program and I cannot even type in Japanese in the program. I'm trying to find a way to fix this but I just can't figure it out.

Anyone had this problem before and know how to handle it?

If it helps, this is the site. http://gpara.hangame.co.jp/gpara.asp The problem is with the program that the games connect through that is auto downloaded when you sign in.

This should probably go in "practical" but oh, well.

You need to go to start->control panel->Advanced tab and select Japanese as your langauge to use for "non-Unicode programs". Reboot, and they should work.

That's
Start -> Control Panel -> Regional and Language Options -> Advanced tab -> Language for non-Unicode programs : Japanese

It does have a few side effects, if you can't put up with them then look for AppLocale on the Microsoft site.
