Funny you should mention prices of tickets to Tokyo. I was perusing the Los Angeles Times Travel section today and the flights from L.A. to Tokyo are listed at $980 r.t. by all airlines. I suspect if one uses Travelocity or Priceline, they might find cheaper ones. But I also suspect not by much. Although this is the busy season, the situation in the Middle East certainly isn't helping any.
To where? I bought my ticket to Fukuoka, RT and it was 901. This was through HIS though.
I just checked Travelocity on United from October 12~17th round trip Chicago to Tokyo and it came out to a whopping $1,460.00.Los Angeles to Narita.
I would guess Fukuoka would be a little higher as it is not a main hub like Narita or Kansai. But I'm just guessing.
I've never used HIS. It's either been Priceline.com or Travelocity for me. Whichever comes in cheaper.
They both specialize in offering discount travel, still I've heard IACE (and maybe some others) are _usually_ better bargains.IACE better to use than HIS? HIS was very helpful. Except for when they answered the phone in Japanese.![]()
In my own experience I have paid as low as USD$380 RT six months after 911 to a high of USD$1240 RT to fly for the New Years holiday. This past April I paid $680 RT.
If I can ask do you work for American or a different airline or for no airline? My dad works for American and I get cheap flights to anywhere in the world. That's why I asked.Houston-Narita - $825 on Continental (direct flight)
My last trip in October on American through Dallas was a whopping $494 rt. Love the contract fares we get.
I've checked numerous places, from Expedia, to Orbitz, To Travelocity, to Kayak, and EVERYTHING in between. The cheapest I could possibly find from Huntsville, AL for one adult in June or July was 1400 dollars after taxes!!!! Whoever said they only have to pay taxes earlier... wanna hook a brotha up? lol -kris
Did you try a regular discount Japan travel agency or only online ? Or out of a larger metro airport ? Those things may cut it by $200-$300, but yeah mostly the time you've chosen is the absolute worst, for weather and crowds too.I've checked numerous places, from Expedia, to Orbitz, To Travelocity, to Kayak, and EVERYTHING in between. The cheapest I could possibly find from Huntsville, AL for one adult in June or July was 1400 dollars after taxes!!!! A month after 9/11, I paid $550 for a RT from L.A. to Narita. With taxes, my airfare this past April came to $757.30.
He's right, check around. The $680 figure was what the Times travel people obtained. Still, it is better than $980.
