I can't find it, but i'm suspecting it's expensive. how much would it cost for an adult flight ticket from allentown, PA to Tokyo, Japan. same question only instead of an adult, a minor, or w/e. a 15 - 16 yera old? thanx!!

I honestly don't know i get all of my tickets really cheap through my dad because he works for the airlines, so all I have to pay is taxes on my airline tickets.

Good luck also the cheapest tickets I found we're $1650 round trip and that's just for a week not including hotel or anything else.

Funny you should mention prices of tickets to Tokyo. I was perusing the Los Angeles Times Travel section today and the flights from L.A. to Tokyo are listed at $980 r.t. by all airlines. I suspect if one uses Travelocity or Priceline, they might find cheaper ones. But I also suspect not by much. Although this is the busy season, the situation in the Middle East certainly isn't helping any.

I suspect if one uses Travelocity or Priceline, they might find cheaper ones. But I also suspect not by much. I've been monitoring the Los Angeles Times Travel section since this was posted and the prices are starting to creep down. The r.t. fares are now listed at $780.

I would guess Fukuoka would be a little higher as it is not a main hub like Narita or Kansai. But I'm just guessing.

I've never used HIS. It's either been Priceline.com or Travelocity for me. Whichever comes in cheaper.

I just checked Travelocity on United from October 12~17th round trip Chicago to Tokyo and it came out to a whopping $1,460.00.

$820.00 for the same dates through the IACE, the cheapest travel agency in the country. Going up about a hundred towards the end of next month...think I'll be cashing in a few of those miles next time....

They both specialize in offering discount travel, still I've heard IACE (and maybe some others) are _usually_ better bargains.

Besides HIS has been in trouble for discriminatory pricing towards gaijins and I'm so scared of them now....

Air fares coming down.

I checked the Los Angeles Times Travel Section yesterday and the average round-trip fares from Los Angeles to Tokyo are now at $680.00. That's down $100 from the week before.

That's $300 below the summer high of $980.00.

I just want to toss TicketToJapan.com out there (the actual company is MAC Travel). I got my ticket for 1K versus 1095 IACE wanted, and 1300 from Kayak.com -

Ticket prices vary very much from company to company and one should check prices from more than a few companies. Prices also vary very much based on the time of year one is flying. IACE and JTB are often cheaper. In my own experience I have paid as low as USD$380 RT six months after 911 to a high of USD$1240 RT to fly for the New Years holiday. This past April I paid $680 RT.

As of October 16 JTB was charging $499 RT to any city in Japan from Los Angeles. And right now it is $509 RT to Tokyo and $539 RT to Osaka.

IACE is charging $509 RT from here in Nashville, TN for travel Nov 7 - Dec 7, to $930 if you are departing around Christmas and then $640 - $670 for departure from Christmas day to Dec 31.

Therefore, one must check and re-check prices to get the best price as they are constantly changing. Check the links

He's right, check around. The $680 figure was what the Times travel people obtained. Still, it is better than $980.

The cheapest I could possibly find from Huntsville, AL for one adult in June or July was 1400 dollars after taxes!!!! Late-June and early July is the beginnings of the travel season. It would probably be a lot cheaper if you didn't have to go across the continental U.S.A. to get to the Pacific Ocean first. Sometimes I am glad I live in Southern California. Cheaper airfare to Japan is a one reason.

Did you try a regular discount Japan travel agency or only online ? Or out of a larger metro airport ? Those things may cut it by $200-$300, but yeah mostly the time you've chosen is the absolute worst, for weather and crowds too.

Flying from Allentown would make it tougher. It's the same when I fly via Chicago to Hartford, CT (Windsor Locks, actually) because it's the nearest airport to my parents (about 35 minutes by car usually).

Of course, he would probably be better off flying from Philly, or even better from Newark, NJ (about 90 minutes by car) as they have direct flights with Continental to Tokyo.

Today's average r.t. airfare from Los Angeles to Narita is now listed as $620, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Tax refund season is just around the corner.
