The BBC on the beauty of Izumo, a city known for the Izumo-Taisha, one of Japan's most ancient and important Shinto shrines. It is also one of Japan's best-known "power spots".

It's a nice place. Been there a few times. Many newlyweds celebrate their weddings there.
The area is very busy with tourist and parking is a bit hard to find if you have a car, although there is parking down the small hill, a walk is necessary, but not bad. Spend a day there. Great place to meditate. I have pictures of the area, I'll have to find them when I have time and post them.
Here are some of the pictures of a nearby campground. I have the green tent with the orange bicycle. Small campsite with free electric for your phone and bbq. I camped there when the weather was really cold also. Shimane winery is not too far. Free wine to taste.

I agree—it is a wonderful and contemplative place. We visited there in 2018 with my brother and his wife. I wish we'd had more time. Very few "inbounds" back then.

I liked it there too. I believe my most recent visit was in 2008 or 2009 so been a long time.
