Is there any hint to use が?

Hello, guys.

Please, do you know any hint to know how to use が properly?
At times I put を when I should put が and, at times は.

It's so confusing.

Can I ignore it by now only learning by examples and the context later?

が is a bloody annoying particle, its one of the 3 fundamental ones which you learn at the very start, the other 2 being はand を

You asked for some examples so here are some. が is used to emphasise things and answer questions relating too who, where, what, when etc. Soo if someone basically says ''Who is Derick'' you may put your hand up and say ''Watashi wa Derick'' but in this case it would to much of a general statement so instead you would say ''Watashi ga Derick'' because it is highlighting you are the one which is Derick, answering a ''who'' question.

Dont get annoyed about が I struggle with it still especially when I want to put it in but it conflicts with another particle that also needs to be there like と or も。

I still probably get it wrong about 30% of the time, but I quit struggling with it a long time ago.

I heard it explained one way - wa emphasizes what comes before it, ga emphasizes what comes after it. There are nuances, but that explanation has helped me.

この美容院は新しいです。THIS SALON is new.
この美容院が新しいです。this salon is NEW.

Admittedly, I am not high on the list of people who can reliably address the issue, but it strikes me that you have it backwards.

(Does anyone know why the forum can't properly display a percent symbol?)

Mike-san is correct. The word preceding が or following は is emphasized.

この美容院は新しいです。(simle statement)
この美容院が新しいです。(an answer to the question something like "Which salon is newer?")

A wise decision.

To help keep it straight in your mind, just remember that "g" comes before "w" (or "h", depending on how you romanize は)

I think I understand.

But can I exchange between them, like for a mistake?
I mean, is it understandable even if I put "wa" where there's supposed to be a "ga"? The sentence's meaning changes a lot?
