Is Mike Cash really gone?

Hi there sabro !! I have been pretty tied up these past two weeks, or so, and have not gotten around to checking up on things that have been going down, so much. This just caught my eye right away. Is there any information or talk that would lead to the question?

I would hope--and think at the moment, at least--that he's still here. He may be busy too? MM

Did Mike Cash say he was leaving? (I honestly don't know.)

I see. Let's wait. I recall that after the big 'hat dance' with Maciamo back at the beginning of the year, he left for a while, cooled off, and then came back. It might work out this way too. Let's wait a while and see. There are other things I could say here, but won't...basically it's off topic. MM

This place certainly has changed.

The loss of Mike Cash over this trifling (but disturbing for anyone who thinks we should be able to actually write our opinions on this board) incident would truly be a loss for Jref.

Perhaps the rules should be modified so that it is more clear as to what is meant by them?

And I don't personally think that Mike's comments broke the rules.

The line may not be at each mod's individual discretion necessary, but I think you will find that any concrete line will be hard to pin down. It's a slippery beast without substantial form....

I am afraid that Mike is indeed gone, not sure if it will be temporary..

And about that thread, I think Mike had the perfect right to say what he wanted. I rarely agree with Mike on that sort of issues, and I didn't agree that time either, but deleting comments that are not in line with a mod's way of thinking is a bit over the top.. A bit did I say? It is bloody ridiculous.

As long as there are no ad hominem attacks, disturbing the peace of the forum or comments that are in contrast with the principal equality of people of all races, genders and religion, no man has the right to "punish" a fellow member. That's my personal opinion.

Deleting posts should be reserved to get rid of spam and other material that downgrades the image of the forum. Deleting posts at will, restricting free speech, downgrades the quality of the forum and its value to the loyal, critically thinking forum members.

Let's wait and see, maybe he is just taking a break (let's hope so).

He seemed to know A LOT more about things than I did, but he was a harsh with people sometimes >.>
Well let's just say that reading his comments was gave people the "IN MY FACE" kind of feeling which is usually not appreciated by most people. But other than that he was fine.

It's one of those cases where I disagree with what Mike said, but defend to the death his right to say it. 😌

I will miss him, if he is gone for ever. :( I think his posts could sometimes be blunt to the point of rudeness, sometimes unnecessarily, which could be a bit of a 'shock' to new posters who didn't know his style, but on the other hand he had a pragmatic view and was very good at bringing people back down to earth and also firing off at spammers, bigots and the just plain stupid. Treading a fine line, but I thought he made a valuable contribution to the forum and I hope he is just taking a break.

I agree wholeheartedly! Jref does not need thought police! We may be only visitors, but so are the mods. They should be held responsible, too!

He'll be back, else I'll holler over to Gunma to kick his *** back online XD.

Oh, and maybe in America people can say whatever they want, but not outside your little utopia I'm afraid.

No one ever said that people should be able to say ANYTHING. People are just saying that what Mike Cash said was not so inappropriate to be deleted. It's entirely different.

I basically agree that he needs to learn to take a little better what he dishes out so well....but hope as well this vacation is less extended than the last, and the one before that...And that something inside has continued to mellow through this insane and very, very unfortunate incident.

Btw, He has been lurking here the last few days. So he's just pissed off at me for taking his remark so serious.

Or not seriously enough. I didn't see the original post but I doubt very much he was joking around. ☝

I hope he comes back, he is a good poster. I've gotten into it with him a couple of times, but he is a pretty well spoken guy. I'd be pretty pissed off is someone deleted my posts too.

I took it to mean that he's had it with that particular thread, not JREF in general. Then I could be mistaken.

He may seem abrasive to some, but I've always enjoyed his posts. He has little patience with people who post about subjects thinking they know what they are talking about but don't.

Well everybody is entitled to there opinion but if you are gonna post something thats gonna get everybody elses goat or is delibratly mean sarcastic or unesasery

then well you are gonna reap the consiqences

If you can't stand the heat get outta the kitchen

But i don't like to see anybody leave in a huff or upset

Sometimes if you feel pashiote about something you can't help but say it
