In the 1980s City Pop was popular. I was listening frequently because I was a high school student.

City Pop is such a cool genre, it evokes some sort of nostalgia feeling in me while I wasn't even alive in the 80s.
It's heavily used in Vaporwave samples too (which is another subculture on the internet that is very exotic in its own way.
