It's been horrible today, and I came over all funny yesterday evening after unwisely walking from Shinjuku to Ikebukuro - the heat sneaks up on you. I ended up catching a taxi home from my local station because I didn't feel steady enough to ride my bike the 5 minutes home.

I don't think he can be much different, or that he should be, as Labour are midway through a 5-year plan that is beginning to show signs of working. But he can do much better at setting the tone of the government, which Starmer was awful at.

I was drinking (no alcohol!) steadily all afternoon, as I'd been for a walk with friends mid-afternoon when it was about 33 degrees. It was about 29 when I started feeling ill. Maybe I just did too much - I had walked 19,000 steps by the time I got home.

This will save the average Brit about £45 per year so people will soon see it as token gesture that will make no difference to the 'cost of living crisis'. The end national rough sleeping is a wonderful idea but he tried to do this in Manchester and failed
