Well, I have read ijime (bullying) has become a very huge problem in Japan. I think ijime-related suicides are becoming a national issue.

The thing is, are they really so psychologically vulnerable? That is, that they can't stand someone calling them 'stupid' or 'ugly' or such? Or are kids really so cruel and stuff.

It would be very good to hear people's perceptions on this... issue?

Japanese bullying takes the form of many-on-one instead of the one-on-one or one-on-many form that we are perhaps more used to.

And it hasn't just become a problem. It has been a problem for as far back as anyone can remember; you're just now becoming aware of it, perhaps.

Ijime is endemic and sometimes practically appears to be the national pastime.
