I want to change my university and major and I have some questions

I am studying economics in a Japanese university but I have made changes in my plans for future.I want to study a different major in a different university. So I will take 留学試験 next year and apply to a university to take examinations and interview.

My question is: Can I apply without quitting my current university.I mean, would universities allow me to apply even though I am registered in another university.Obviously I want to quit my school only after I get accepted.Also do I need any permission from my current university? And lastly, can I renew my student visa without a problem after I change my school?

I already sent a mail to the university I wish to apply, and asked these questions but haven't received an answer yet.So I am asking here hoping that there is someone who has the answers.

It's generally kind to write whatever you found so the next person doing a search can know the answer as well.

Well, it really depends on the universities so I suggest contacting both universities to make sure. I don't want to mislead anyone. But apparently there is no problem regarding visa as long as it is done properly. Hope that helps.
