What is the laws about prostitution in japan?

Illegal. However there are many loopholes. Enforcement is random.

I believe it is effectively 18, set by all prefecutures individually as the "official" central government age of consent is 13. (Don't make a fuss. 100 years ago it was 10 in America and 7 in Delaware). And despite the national age, the AOC applies to the residents of the prefecture whereever they go. So if a 20 year old woman has sex in Chiba with a 14 year old teen male from Saitama, she will be tried in Saitama....assuming there are any complaints I doubt there would be. I don't think the police would pursue anything without a complaint lodged.

The AOC for Tokyo and Nagano prefecture used to be 13, but I think that has changed since.

I think the AOC for marriage is 16 though, so once married, no legal problems with sex.

Sort of, in many cities. Generally you know it by Chinese, Korean and other women standing in a spot on the street asking passing men if they want a "massage". What all you can get I don't know. I never tried.

BTW the law is everyone's business. The only perversion is that most of us have not been duly informed and even my information is not 100 percent correct or complete despite paying more attention than most.

I asked this because i have herd rumors about some non-usa countries having open sales of.... um... well porn that would be Ileagle in the USA... I asked this because accidently seeing something that would be ileagle in the USA would be a big no, no... There is a USA law that saids you can go to jail in the USA for leaving the USA to do something that's ileagle in the USA.. So like if its a crime to smoke drugs in the USA and you go someplace you can do it and thats only why you went there then came back to the USA and you bragged about it... Jail time... All it would take was me accidently seeing something that would be ileagle in the USA then comeing back to the USA and accidently blurting it out then someone calling the cops then i would be in deep poop. I would not be looking to see that kind of thing but i have a feeling your not going to bleave me or twist my words around or quote me out of context...

Even if you could fulfill your dream of going to Japan and buying an underage prostitute, you do still realize the are laws against sex tourism right? Even if it were legal for you to have sex with a child in Japan, you would still be violating American law.
