I am pleased to announce the opening of the 2007 Kobe College
Corporation-Japan Education Exchange (KCC-JEE) High School Essay Contest for American high school students sponsored by OMRON Corporation. The application deadline for this year is FEBRUARY 2, 2007.
First prize is a one-month trip to Kobe, Japan, with intensive language
study and housing with a local host family. Students who have completed at least one year of formal Japanese language study are eligible to enter. The essay should be 500-550 words, in English, and should respond to the prompt: "How the study of Japanese has impacted me and my plans for the future."
KCC-JEE is excited to announce a significant change to the 2007 contest
rules. Starting this year, the contest will be open to American high school students age SIXTEEN and older; students who will be 16 or 17 by July 1, 2007 will be eligible to enter with the permission of their parents. We are very pleased that the Kobe YMCA was able to offer this accommodation, and are looking forward to an increased pool of applicants.
Applications are available through our office in Chicago, and more
information is available on our web site.
