Hideki Matsui homers on Opening Day!

Matsui hit a three-run homer in the top of the fourth inning off A's reliever Kirk Saarloos.

The game was already a blowout, but I was still glad to see Matsui hit it out.

He was 4-4 with 4 RBI and two runs-scored. He had a homerun on Opening Day last year as well.

I think Matsui's gonna have a great season. Also I am really looking forward to Chien-Ming Wang's performance this season.

I'm excited about Chien-Ming Wang too. He looked really good last year before getting injured. I think the Yankees have a starter in him that will be reliable for years to come. Knowing them though, they'll trade him for someone five years past his prime who will be good for a year at the most.

I can't argue too much with their success over the years though. If I had all the money they did, I'd probably buy one year rentals like they have too. It just makes it hard for a fan to get attached to the team when so many of the fan-favorite young players (like Nick Johnson, Javier Vazquez and Alfonso Soriano) are shipped out so fast. The team seemed somewhat adamant about keeping Wang this past offseason, so maybe he's there to stay.
