My name's Summer and I live up in Scotland (and for anyone who doesn't know, we don't wear kilts and eat haggis- it's gross!
), and er...I'm 16 (and still attending school). I'm smart but...kind of ditzy, I try to friendly despite a short temper (and being plain
short!), stubborn too yeah...
In case you care...I got interested in Japanese because, as a kid, one of my friends
loved Sailormoon. I personally thought it was a bit cheesy and kiddy for me (now I look back, I was really young so it sounds so snobby!) That was kind of the seed, and when I was up late (when I was little 10 o'clock was a
really rebellious time to be awake
), and I managed to see a bit of
Neon Genisis Evangelion, and the rest is history! My parents working lots I had some free time to investigate: anime led me to manga led me to Japanese.
Now I'm in love with fashion, travel, art, culture & language (though I have to admit some shallowness in the languages I like). Semi-fluent in French, beginner at Spanish (mostly self-taught from reliable sources) and very beginner at Japanese & Greek! (I'm shallow because I tend to like languages that are nice-sounding, I'm not fond of German - sorry! - because of the guttural sounds which I can't make
)
In Japanese, I'm just teaching myself the unvoiced katakana (sigh!) but, my proud achievement is that I can read romanized Japanese really well.
I used to watch some anime, but it's technically for kids (even the more serious ones like Ayashi No Ceres) so I just read manga now.
Favourite manga:
I.N.V.U, Alchino, Ayashi No Ceres, Clover (CLAMP <3), Chobits (minus all the annoying fanservice
) Peach Girl (yeah, yeah, shamelessly shoujo), Kare Kano & Fruits Basket
Favourite movies:
Chocolat (two words:
Johnny Depp), Howl's Moving Castle & Spirited Away (Hayao Miyazaki = genius
)
And well, voila! I think, the name for the smilies -
kao - am I right in saying that means 'face' in Japanese (here's hoping)? Looking foward to know y'all...
Hajimemashite~!
