Hello all,
I'm a British student who studies Psychology in the United kingdom. Last year I met a Japanese exchange girl and we get on really well.. we're kinda ''study buddies'' I help her with work as her English isnt very good. Anyway... I really like her and over the summer I've decided to try and learn Japanese to try and wow her a little!
Japanese cant be learnt in 3 months.. I dont speak any languages other than my native tongue and I'm coming to realise how riddiculously hard Japanese is for English speakers to learn. But heres me so far...
1-300 in Romaji, Hiragana and Kanji
12 Seasons in Romaji and Kanji (Hiragana almost...)
Can tell the time fully in Romaji and Kanji (Hiragana again almost..)
Dozen or so basic phrases..
Most of the 48 'essential' Hiragana memorized
Understanding of sentence structure and particles
I like to think I've learned a lot in 3 weeks considering I'm teaching myself I'm just not sure what to tackle next.. their all quite isolated things really I need to work out some kind of plan of what I need to learn really.
Anyway sorry for the long post! I hope this forum will be very helpful

Hello and welcome,

just a little tip, there are only 48 hirigana, not 48 essential ones.

anyway, good luck with your studies
