Help understanding this

I don't want to write out the whole story since it is about 3 pages. here are some of the relevant parts. Its basically about
a guy in japan looking at stuff and putting it in his dictionary as he looks at things, the whole story is kind of about the hardest part of learning Japanese for this guy. In this case
every time he passes the signs at the parking lot he starts understanding it more and more.


そのうち自転車に乗るようになり、看板解読の範囲が広がった、新宿へ行っても練馬を横断しても、上野、月島でも"げっきょく"(the kanji wouldn't appear for this on my computer so I wrote the hiragana, hes refering to how his dictionary always puts the wrong kanji when he types in a word with multiple meanings I think)のパッキングを見かける。どうやら大企業で、東京の駐車場市場を独占してる様子、一部上場か....と思い込んだまま突っ走っていた。

I don't get what this is trying to say, here is my translation " Eventually when I would ride my bike, the extent to which I could decipher the signs expanded(i.e increased). Whether going to shinjuku, or even passing nerima, ueno, and tskishima I could see the "Gekkyoku" parking. Someway or another, when I saw large enterprises, the Tokyo parking lot market would be in a monopolized condition. Is one section going public...? While this came to mind I dashed away.

So one question. why is he running away? O.O

He thought that "the company" is listed on the first section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 一部上場か.

突っ走っていた just means he continued riding the bike with fast speed.

月極 = つきぎめ ?
But he thought it was gekkyoku im guessing?

I have a question about the pronounciation of 範囲 in the CD the guy says it like はいん rather はんい, just coincidence, or my ears play tricks?

I think either your ears are playing tricks on you or he mispronounced it.

Probably my ears. The more I hear it the more I hear はいん though. The article uses 周り at one point too. I have heard this word 3 times with different people, and it never sounds like mawari! Grrr these sounds make me mad !

It sounds like māri/maari, maybe? It's actually possible when they speak fast.
