Looking for a translation for the word "Mai". It seems to have many different meanings.

When shopping for property: location, location, location.
When trying to translate something: context, context, context.

What you're asking is like asking what the word "shot" means in English, without specifying if you mean "He was shot." or "A shot of whiskey." or something else.

I received the work from my karate instuctor to give a translation. He also gave me In ibuki
and Kimochi. Im not sure if these words along with Mai have similar meanings.

mai can be various words such as 毎, 舞, 米, 枚, 埋, 昧 and 妹.
which mai are you talking about?

None of those are "words".

He almost certainly wants "mae".

The only possible answer to "mai" would be 舞; "dance".

My wild guess; his instuctor gave him a series of "shiritori(word-chain game)".

Mai --> Ibuki --> Kimochi

I think your right about the Mai meaning dance. A kata is like a dance of moves.

"Mae" is a very commonly used vocabulary item in the context of karate and to non-native speakers of Japanese "mai" and "mae" sound very similar. Please check to see which is being asked for.

mai is the term that he requested. I talked to him, he told me Mai means empty mind. I think there is a spelling error on his part
