Hiragana's not that bad .... !
Just apply your own time limit - but cut it to, say 20/30 minutes a day at the most (really !) just write 'em down and repeat them out loud. Don't do more than 5 at a time !
Once you've 'cracked' five, go on to the next five, and so on. But don't forget the first five ... or the preceeding five .... !
Test yourself by writing them out at the start of each day's practise - you'll usually forget two ! No problem - look 'em up, and practise again. It works - but you won't do it in a coupla days ! I'm still at the halfway mark, myself . But just keep pluggin' away ! This is pretty much how you learned the English alphabet in the first place, and that took a little time, too ! You just don't remember the struggle you had, that's all.
Have a little fun with it, too - just a little time ago, I bet my wife that I'd be able to read some of the face of a packet of Japanese noodles before a set date ! I (just) made it !
But also - wether it be German, Japanese, French, "Stryne" or "Noo Yuwork" ... try to listen to conversation, the radio, TV etc. etc. to try to "hear" the spoken language too. You'd be amazed how quickly it can start to "come to you" if you really want to do it, or need to do it. Learning a new language is the most complex thing the human brain can accomplish - apart from understanding the female brain, that is ..... (oooooH! That'll get a response .... !)
(I once knew a Belgian guy who told me he learned, at the age of 15, to speak German fluently in six months....
...he was in Dachau concentration camp at the time!)
Best Regards and good luck ...
