I'm a student from California, just returned from my first trip to Japan this summer with tentative plans to study and work there in the future. A friend linked me to this site a while ago and I've been reading through some of the material; so far it seems like the best serious forum regarding Japan I've found to date.

I'm not one to join every forum I come across, but I'm intrigued and feel compelled to write some responses to what I've been reading.
