Greetings and salutations to everyone out there! Name's Dan, moniker Charon.

Stumbled onto this forum doing a websearch for penpals. I have a feeling that this place is going to be a touch more enlightening, judging from what I've looked over in the various topics. Gets a wee bit lively in here, doesn't it? *chuckles*

As y'all might could tell by my location, I'm in the military - a United States Marine, to be specific. From what I've seen of a couple posts in the "current events" area, this puts me in a minority that's slightly less than popular on this board. I hope that folks won't hold against me what I do, and instead we can come together in an appreciation for Japanese culture and linguistics.

Having said that, if anyone feels that they have an opinion that they want to share, by all means, send a PM. Let's not drag it out where everyone might not want to see it.

Do I sound a little too arrogant? Sorry about that, if I do. Got put in an odd frame of mind, but I like the way everyone here speaks their minds, and are, for the most part, very articulate and well-researched, and I hope to be a valuable contributor to the forums! *bows*
