Bon Jour de Bastille, mes amis!

(Forgive my poor French--it's been a long time since I used it. I'll use English instead... 😌)

I don't know if I'm watching live coverage or if it's taped, but it looks like a French rider just won today's stage at the Tour de France. Today being Bastille Day makes that even nicer, n'est pas?

Anyway, enjoy the day!

Dan

Well, I don't think any French call 14 July "Bastille Day", but rather "fete national" - although it does commemorate the seizing of the Bastille on 14 July 1789 by anti-royalist revolutionaries. There will be fireworks in the streets of France tonight, then in Belgium next week (21 July) for their own national day (Independanc from the Netherlads in 1830). It's not unlike Japan's "hanabi" season. :-)

Maciamo,

Oops. Sorry. Thanks for the correction! I'd heard the term before and this morning the announcers made a reference to it during the Tour de France. 🙇‍♂️

Well, I hope all of our French members have had a good Fete Nationale, then! 🙂

Regards,

Dan
