I'm Sara, age 14, from Finland (that's between Sweden and Russia). I started to gain interest in Japanese pop culture when I was 6, (I know, really young but hey..) thanks to the anime 'Magic Knight Rayearth'. In school, I was known as the "nerdy girl", and was often teased about it but I didn't mind. when I was 9, I started to watch many other anime, and I began to draw in more.. 'anime' style. (I hate when someone says 'manga' or 'anime' style, but I had to use the word, sorry everyone.) Soon after I started to study the language, I still am. Now I'm 14, and no one teases me for being a 'Japan freak', as they want to put it, since every one here practicly either watches anime or reads manga. Many ppl only do it because it's 'in' and 'pop', and that pisses me off. Well anyhow, it's nice to meet you all.
Things I like, (besides all things Japanese) are watermelons, lemons, candy, swimming, drawing, reading, listening to music, studying, thinking, walking alone or with my friend.
Things I hate, are sour milk, intestines as food, ignorant people, noise, stupid people, skiing, almost every sport, hentai on children's movie section in stores.
Well I think this is enough. If someone is nice enough to help me in my studies, I'd really appreciate it. Thank you.

Yoroshiku Sara! You've certainly come to the right place to discuss any and all things Japanese!

Wow you've been studying Japanese for 5 years and you are only 14? How good is your Japanese? Anyways, welcome to the forum and have fun!

It's not very good, despite my efforts. I've learned all the hiragana and katakana, and some kanji too.
There isn't really any studying material in Finnish, and if there are, it's in the library and it's taken all the time and blah blah. Mainly using the internet, found a great kanji site in Finnish also. Finally making some progress. Hehe

Welcome enjoy! You've come to the right forum

Hi and welcome(check out my originality here...wow)
hmmm yours is another one of those interesting first posts. That's the second one I found today, my, am I lucky or not? Well, interesting list, seems like we got quite a lot in common, except for the sporting-part...And ofcourse you were way earlier involved with Japan than I am. But well, can't be helped. So what do you like to read? And what music do you like most? Including J-pop/J-rock? hmmm I'm very curious today. You're unlucky though. It seems like this is one of the most boring posts I've ever written. I'll try to behave better next time! Finland is nice, I'm considering it as a destination for next summervacation. Cute avatar...and have fun on the forum. I'll be around in the chitchat sector most of the time.

Hi Sara! Didn't expect to find finnish people from here. Nice surprise

Welcome to the forums Sara!

I am sure that there are many here that will be glad to share their knowledge and advice with you! It is impressive that you know all of the hirigana and katakana and some kanji. I have studied the hirigana and will soon start on katakana, the only kanji I know is the one for rain, and don't ask me to draw it. lol.

Thank you and no, you didn't sound boring. It's nice to have something in common with someone I like mostly emotional music or hard rock with nice melodies etc. (For example Diru and Malice Mizer) Finland is a nice country, you should come here sometimes :O I like reading books with religion, occultism, science and fantasy involved, that goes for manga as well. It's nice to learn stuff.

To Lillith:
Whoa! So didn't expect to see anyone from Finland here xD Tervetuloa vaan sekaan!
