Yes, true. (^o^)
Almost the same dialect as Osaka is spoken also in each prefecture in Kansai
(Kyoto, Nara, Hyogo, Shiga, Wakayama).
However, it becomes near the standard dialect when speaking by the
Keigo (honorific).

Noda, welcome to Jref!!
It's nice to see another new face around here, I hope you will have a pleasant stay here and make alot of new friends!

Hi there noda san !! WELCOME to Jref !! I hope you join in when you can and share your thoughts with us all. Don't worry about your English too much, if someone can't understand you they will usually ask...I think.

Osaka ka....the first Japanese person who I really got to know, and who originally suggested that I come to Japan, was from Osaka. He's the person who got me started with my Japanese. The first sentence I learned, (and he was a college student at the time) to be use when I wanted to show my anger at them by calling them names, was: 'watashi wa baka desu !' [and I knew no better at the time than to believe him...but did kind of wonder about that smile on his face everytime I said it.....

Have fun here, and please do post when you can !!
