Dear native English speakers,

Would both be used?
(1a) Sam had been playing the video game for two hours when his mother came back.
(1b) Sam had played the video game for two hours when his mother came back.

Would both be used?
(2a) We had been walking for four hours when we reached the top of the mountain.
(2b) We had walked for four hours when we reached the top of the mountain.

Would (3a) and (3b) have the same meaning?
(3a) I will have finished my homework by tomorrow.
(3b) I will finish my homework by tomorrow.

Thanks in advance.
Hirashin
