Urgh, i didn't know that it was a fungus that caused most cases of dandruff ! I knew a lot of people got it too, but i didn't know that it was half of the human population!

Thankfully i don't get dandruff though, so this isn't a problem for me, however i found the article interesting none the less .

That was an interesting report. I had heard something of the nature of the 'growth' which also gave rise to dandruff, but now that the genetic code has been opened...it can be used to better the condition.

Alas, in the wrong hands, it could be used to worsen it. Thanks for sharing that.

Lol, could be a new weapon for terrorists huh? "Hand over your president or we'll turn you all into dandruff and then destroy you with anti-dandruff shampoo!" lol- "suicide bombers from now on will explode into cloud of flaky dandruff!".

I understand the humor, yes. However, if the fungus were to worsen, it could possibly set off a certain disorder--it seems--where an itch could not be cured, and a person--as recently reported on in Science--could actually scratch through to their skull.

That would be bad. Of course, the likelihood that knowledge of the genetic make-up of that fungus could soon be used for ill will, is probably very, very small at the moment. Maybe our grand children might have to deal with it?

They could develop a super-dandruff using radiation (and probably lab mice in the mix somewhere too) to create a fastly evolving dandruff which becomes intelligent and which not only has the ability to make bread rise but also enslave the human race, controlling people's minds by infecting their brains with its evil fungus. Rebel, and the people are subjected to hours of an insanely itchy head by the super-dandruff .

edit: Eventually, rather Terminator-style, our grand children have to send the "chosen one", a person imune to dandruff, back in time to correct the mistakes of our generation, which as it turns out the Head and Shoulders shampoo and conditioner corperation turns out to be at the bottom of the whole dandruff conspiracey (they of course developed a super-strain of dandruff to infect people to make them buy more of their anti-dandruff products, however of course the super-dandruff got out of control and rebelled against its master after questioning the meaning of its existance ).

That's right !! And they got the whole idea after watching the movie 'Evolution.'

So, in the end, we can see that Hollywood does control the fate of the planet after all !! And we end up with 'skins' as I think they were called in the American TV show, Roswell. (although I think my spelling is off here)

Lol, and the movie "Evolution" of couse turns out to be a big government conspiracey, the movie was of course created to fund the military, it is filled with secret 1-second messages which brainwashes people into joining the army. The Head and Shoulders company turns out to be supported by the military too, they signed their souls over in a deal in which they agreed to further the dandruff gene research program in exchange for a large share of the profits the super-dandruff 0 project would bring them, they thought they were in control but in the end they unwittingly fell into the governments trap.

When the "chosen one" comes back from the future to fight the super-dandruff, of course the military denies all and uses the Head and Shoulders company as a scapegoat to divert the publics attention.

So the dandruff episode ends...But the government has already started an Athelete's Foot project, a new gene-decoding program which will learn from the mistakes of the Dandruff 0 project...be scared, very scared. Mwah ha ha ha...

Ah so Hollywood is yet again pulling the strings of the people behind the scene, lol i knew i shouldn't have trusted the Lord of the Rings trilogy, its gathering of dozens of oscars and other awards was just far too suspicious !

To whatever degree that may be true, tokapi san, I am a bit at a loss over just what input you had had in mind.

OK...what is the connection between oily skin and the fungus? Would the oily content provide more food, thus a greater activity of cell spliting and growth?

I don't use Head and Shoulders, so I am not a part of the scheme, but I do use Bald and Bold--a special wash/rinse/ eraser for those who wish they had hair !!

As for oily skin, maybe people with oily skin are warmer and moister and that's a good growing environment for fungus? Just a thought, not based on anything scientific.

I think you have a point there !! WoW !! I have never been a mushroom fan. Does that mean I hate myself? Maybe I am a fungus after all. I think that's what my sisters used to try to tell me, anyway.
