Gazette

Taka: i'm too old for anime maybe, too sceptical xD
why? i know many bands give concerts in England
how old are you?)

#Taka - Yea, we have and I do like anime. But, it's okay with me if you don't :)

I haven't been to a Jrock concert either >.> I'm sure no Jrock band will come here for at least 50 years. That's how it is with this area ~ no foreign musicians like us xD

@ Rei - No one should change their preferences in music even if it seems weird. Damn proud to be a GazE fan !! 🌹 This thread is the only place where i can talk about GazettE so you are lucky to an extent.

@ Momijii - Hey welcome back !!!! I want to go to that shop too 😊

#sul im 19 :D always been too busy really and i only really would go to see the gazettE but they only came here once and i hardly really knew that much about them when that time was.

#Lola if you want to talk about the gazettE why dont you just bring up a subject?

#Rei mm yes i will respect that

o god why is everyone suddenly ask things about age. i am probably one of the oldest here. same age with ruki. but damn does age counts when it comes to liking anime & THE GAZETTE:(

i even let my baby watch THE GAZETTE concert (via internet though)

i just wish my hubby won't get jealous of the gazeboys someday.:p

@ TakaWarumono: The point isn't that I don't want to talk about gazette, the point is that you people are using this thread as a chat for everything that's loosely attached to gazette, jrock and japan. It irks me because it used to be a fun place where we could discuss news, dvds and related things. A post was usually at least 200 words, if not more. Now it seems like a race to reach the highest page number. Writing a reply only to say two or three words is what I consider spam - a word in a chat, maybe, but not a good supplication to a discussion topic.

And here's my two cents to (hopefully) start a discussion: where do you think they are headed now? What kind of music do you think (or hope) they will make, and how long will they go for?

It seems like they're heading away from the Visual Kei scene since it started getting stale and saturated with the amount of copycat, manufactured bands (take SuG, for example,) that overrun the market nowadays.

Their clothing is more stylish rather than garish and admittedly, some of their more recent style choices have made me think of boy band glitter shirts, but they have had quite a few interesting looks with one-off personal photoshoots/interviews as well as PV related outfits. If I may poke a little fun at my favourite member: Ruki seems to be on a never-ending quest to find increasingly hideous suits - the latest addition being his truly awful blue Pucciesque suit. But I digress, their image is not all that important to me, sometimes they come out with something interesting to look at and yeah, I'll have a gander but that's about it.

I actually really like the direction their music has taken. It has progressed far beyond the type of music they were making when I first became a fan. It's more ツ'polished' and Ruki's voice has improved tenfold.

Honestly, I would love to see a track that's somewhere in between Toguro and 13STAIRS[-]1, so it has that astounding darkness to it with low music and vocals. I love those kinds of songs whenever Gazette come out with a new one.

They left VK some time ago. Even Ruki said (on more occasions) that they are no longer VK. VK is actually dead since 2006-7. It´s a shame, but that´s how it is.

For me Uruha never gets boring. I think he is the most complicated person by Gazette (Reita is the most simple- no offense, I like Reita). But I doubt he will stop drinking...lol what I am really happy about is that he wears garters again. Though he hates it, he did it for the fans. Now I call THAT being considerate and nice and knowing the price for his fame.
I personally find them a bit too professional, but that can´t be helped, they are professionals and they are for a long time now in this business. Ah, and if they would make songs like 13th stair, I would be in heaven. I really didn´t like BID, but then again, it´s just my taste.

@Lola-chan: It happens from time to time (especially when there are same people for the long time. It just gets personal). Just be patient, we will eventually return to Gazette. 🙂

@ olosta: I thought they might have said that but I couldn't find an article with it in.

Uruha makes me laugh with his 'wine corner' and his pet plant but I find Ruki to be the most interesting (his fashion fail is his best quality LOL). He seems pretty deep and I love his love for animals, his creativity and his fangirlish tendencies whenever he talks about his idol: Kiyoharu. Reita seems like a sweet guy and he'd hate that 'cause he tries so damn hard to be manly. I never really liked Aoi, I like him even less nowadays. I find Kai incredibly boring, even when he has a chance to talk about something else that interests him we get 'Look at my drums :B'.

Haha, they have taken on a very professional demeanor during appearance which is necessary with their growing fame, but still a shame for fans that were used to their boyish antics. They're not as fun as they used to be, they look horribly bored in comments but I suppose anybody would be if they had to film christ knows how many of them with every bit of news. I was delighted to listen to RADIO JACK when Reita was the DJ, he and Ruki were hilarious.

They did seem a little Vk during the Heresy Tour with Ruki's outfit. i remember an interview whee they told the fans not to worry about them going less Vk. I agree with Olosta though they have moved on since the Stacked Rubbish era fashion wise.

To me Ruki has a sense of dark maturity to him that you can see in the lyrics and his background. I also like his Engrish at times in Songs like Silly God Disco :) as well as the emotion he puts into his voice like in Chizuru. Even if you don't understand Japanese , his voice tells you that it's a sad song.
I have always liked Aoi since I began listening to them. I don't understand how can you be such a shy person and get really hot headed. His energy during the songs and lives plus his comical side is a thing you rarely see with other bands.
I don't know if the professional part has to do with them becoming more famous plus they are getting older. 😊

Lola chan has come back to salvage this thread 😊

@ Lola-chan sorry..well ive never really been on a thread before so i dont really know how these things work really sorry if i have done something wrong or offended ._. i dont want that >.< and about the number of posts i really couldnt give a crap tbh and im not actually good at writing long things but ill try >.< i only just joined a few days ago so please dont hit me haha

.. back to the topic

Hmm yeah your absolutly right VK died long ago and i dont think any bands would want to be classed as VK especially the gazette as their music is a lot of mix. They call themselves a Heresy, their music is evolving and they can use whatever styles they want. I know they will make good music and impress in the future in my opinion thats what they have done also rukis vocals have improved and i think he has tried different vocal variations which have been impressive and intersting . But overall the whole band continues to improve.

I still think they have a lot to experiment with and a lot of ideas for their new music

I like rukis costumes >.< only ruki could get away with wearing such things! and its always really intersting to see what he'll wear next ^_^

and i though kiyoharu was kyo's idol?

@ TakaWarumono: lol don't worry, it wasn't dircted at you, but everyone. I know it's easy to forget, but it annoyed me because it's been going on for so long. I suppose the mods have given up on this thread. I remember back in the day (lol I feel old) when they used to pop by every now and then, delete a couple of one-sentence posts and lecture about discussion.

I don't know about Kyo being a fan of Kiyoharu, but Ruki fanboys a lot in his blog entries. It's amusing xD

@ olosta: I actually don't mind them having moved away from VK, although I miss when they used to look like they had more fun. They still look like they enjoy themselves during lives, but during comments and photo shoots (making of) they usually look tired. However, I think that's a part of growing up, you change and so do your interests and likes... I suppose making music might be something different to them now than it was 5 years ago.

Reita's always been my favourite, even though he might seem 'simple', I believe he's much deeper than just 'the sweet guy'. I love his 'boy in a man's body' tendencies (his love for videogames and cars, for example), and he's got good humour. I think Ruki's the most interesting member, as Ruu said, and I find it amusing that I usually either love or hate his clothes. His ever-changing hairstyle is also a good feature - the others (especially Reita) are a bit boring when it comes to that.
I never believed Uruha had a drinking problem, he just likes booze. To me, he seems like the most normal of them (not in a negative sense). I never liked Kai, he just... doesn't appeal to me. We share some of the same music taste, but that's about it, I think he seems dreadfully boring and his smile is overrated srry2say. I never really held much interest in Aoi either, though he does make me laugh sometimes with his jokes and self-irony.

I didn't particularly like BID either, Leech was a lot better... I'm curious as to what their new single will sound like.

@ Femme fatale: VK isn't only about fashion. But I agree they've changed a lot, both music and fashion wise. I'm glad they no longer wear the sort of sh... they used to wear when they'd just started up, but I liked a lot of their outfits between 2003 and 2006.

Lol yeah, Ruki's engrish is always amusing. I regret reading the lyrics to a couple of songs, like 13 stairs [-] 1, though, because it ruined a little of the feel of the song for me. Now I usually snort at his engrish.

Ruu~ said:

Thissss aw yea. It was the best. I totally think they should take over Kai's radio jack. ;D

@ TakaWarumono: Kiyoharu is an idol to an awful lot of Japanese artists lol. Ruki went through a stage of blogging about Kiyoharu and his music.

@ lola-chan: Lol 'back in the day', it's kind of weird coming back here after so long. Ah, yes, Ruki has had some fantastic hairstyles. I don't think Reita's 'simple' in any way either. Sure, he may be charmingly boylike with his love for videogames and manga, but he's just laid back and pretty straight-forward with what he says.

fffffff yes, I want Ruki to take over radio jack and have Reita as a guest.

I hated BID. It looked like it was just a leftover from DIM anyway (as in, it wasn't good enough to make it onto the album but it wasn't crap enough to throw away), so hopefully their new single will be as good as LEECH or D&C.

ehm...well you see...it evolved like that xDDD

kioharu<------- kyo <------- ruki

because gazette were influenced by DeG in the beginnings (but then again, who wasn't?). You can even hear how Ruki tried to emulate his voice the same way as Kyo did. But of course it was only in their, beginings, they soon found an own path.

I too do not think that Uruha is an alcohol addict. He drinks a lot, yes, maybe more than usually jap people (but we all know japs can' t take much alcohol) but he is not some drunkard who would spoil his career ecause of that, or run drunken on streets and harass people lol (well, that would be fun xD).
I respect Ruki for he is an artist (my fella in this) and he is very creative. I like creative people :)

olosta: Hmm, I'm not sure that's true as Reita, Uruha and Ruki have always said that they were influenced by LUNA SEA when they started out and to my knowledge, they've never mentioned Dir en grey. Their first couple of bands were around before 2002, Dir en grey were not 'huge' at that point, so to speak. Also, Ruki had switched from drummer to vocalist so his voice was nowhere near as strong as it is now, he had less control over it and sounded much whinier than he does now. Ruki still likes Guns n Roses - he liked them, Helloween and X Japan throughout his childhood because his older brother was into them. Naturally I'd assume that those were a large influence on his lyrical and vocal work too.

I'm not sure about Aoi but I know Kai loves Marilyn Manson.

'kioharu<------- kyo <------- ruki'
Are you suggesting Ruki is just following suit behind Kyo in idolising a famous artist that's been kicking around since the 80s? I've never once heard Ruki even mention Kyo's name.

I'm an art student myself, so I love seeing Ruki's artwork and his design projects.

@Ruu~ no I didn´t mean it like that (I suspected someone might it take that way...) and lot of artist take Kioyahu as an idol, I know.
I know about Luna sea...but if you listen to Ruki´s singing in the early days, it sound a little bit like kyo. I think it was just an experimental phase until he found his way of singing. Maybe not a direct influence, but there is something. Also gazette were at the beginning thought of as DeG copy (well, not exactly copy, I just can´t get the right english word for it). Not for a long time though..

@olosta: I really don't see the similarities since Ruki just sang like an inexperienced rock singer and sang in a high-pitched voice.

There's been this never-ending war between Dir en grey fans and Gazette fans since Gazette came onto the scene and started gaining popularity (I find both fandoms to be utterly ridiculous in these petty squabbles). Throughout the years all I've heard is 'Gazette are always copying Dir en grey' and 'Ruki's copying Kyo's look!' and there was never any basis to these stupid statements. I never understood the hate between the two fandoms over music.

There would always be inevitable similarities since they were both engulfed in the visual kei style and play the same genres of music, but as both a Gazette fan and a Dir en grey fan, I cannot identify the similarities that would point to blatant copying.

@ Lola - Well I said fashion fashion cause it's the visual aspect of them that's very noticeable. I liked a lot of their earlier outfits just the thing that irked me a bit with their earlier style was their makeup
When I used to to lurk I remember Dutch baka and a purple mod having a field day in here.
The instrument work in 13 Stairs was awesome the only thing that bothers me about that song is that I can't really interpret it's meaning. The engrish is cute at times but there are songs like In the Middle of Chaos that is sung entirely in english I wished he had sung in Jap cause as a native english speaker who is used to hearing english language songs all her life I couldn't understand the lyrics much

@ Ruu - Aoi said he liked Metallica , Story of the Year and Mika Nakashima but I highly doubt the latter influenced him. I have heard countless number of ppl saying Hakuri and Sa Bir sound the same though my blunt mind couldn't find much difference.

I don't know Reita never really interested me much. ( Don't kill me  )

@ olosta: Uruha does in no way drink more than the average japanese. They (the japanese) regularly have arranged office parties where everyone has to attend and drink, and get drunk, because getting drunk = having fun, and if you're having fun with your colleagues it will strengthen the company.

I quite basically agree with most of what Ruu~'s said in this discussion. Of course there are similarities between Gazette and Dir en grey, but there are always similarities in music and clothing, especially if they fit under the same genre.

@ Femme fatale: I think music is just as noteable as clothes when it comes to a band. It depends on each VK band, though, what they emphasise more.
I loved their old outfits, like no. [666], or cockroach. I personally loved Ruki's make up in mmhv. It was awesome |D

Lol yeah, I remember dutch_baka.

There's no reason to 'kill' anybody just because they don't like/aren't interested in your favourite member. You don't find Reita interesting, I don't like Kai and Aoi, and people will have to deal with that.
