i haven't on this thread for a while it feels 🙂
but yea, i heard NIL a few days ago.. and i wasn't really satisfied with it..
the beginning of Nausea + Shudder : i didn't like the repetitive vocals at the back lol. .. that was.. odd.. o.o; but then i liked the stuff that followed ;D
i didn't quite like Bathroom.. maybe because i was expecting something 'rougher' in the album after the other gentler songs.
Maggots was an alright song o.o; just very patterned. or that's just what i felt lol.
Namaatatakai ame tozaratsuita jounetsu: that's a cute song, but quite stretched o.o i wished i understood the lyrics lol
DLN- another emotional track, the children vocals in the background sounds very angelic, but really surprised me >.>; well, they were cute XD
Shadow - probably my favourite track of this album, although when i saw the preview i wasn't that excited >.>;; maybe i'm just.. really hooked onto their older stuff..
Baretta - you can fit this into the intro of an anime ;D once again i wished i knew what he was singing... then maybe i'd like it more?
Cassis - emotional too, but beautiful.
Silly God Disco- that's a cute track.. i like this. but for some strange reasons, i see this being played at the end of an anime episode lol
Discharge- in certain intervals, it's a really enjoyable track, but in some other intervals, i'm just confused.. lol.
Taion- i'd have to agree with PKK.. sounds like American- music XD;;; .. *sighs..
These are simply my thoughts on this album ;D
 
this makes me wonder....i just ordered the cd...which means in like 6-8 weeks i get to finally hear it...:( i'm sure i won't regret it or anything...i liked shadow.

i only heard shadow and cassis..

Cassis was kind of...unexpected. i get the feeling that gazette is really into western american music.

Shadow made me very happy considering i liked the bass solo in the beginning

but yeah i agree that they sometimes go really crazy with teh guitar...maybe because there's two? but then again somethings only work when there's two guitars...who am i to talk i'm a freakin closet guitarist. :p with my band spread all over the us somewhere....:D

I haven't heard the entire album yet, but I was really disapointed with Nausea and Shudder. It had such a cool title but I didn't like the song at all. Discharge is where it's at! I wish there were more songs like that one. I loved the songs on the Casis single (minus casis ha) but so far what I have heard I haven't been that satisfied with.
 
I've heard the whole album and I like it a lot. I listened to it straight, from beginning to end, and each song flows so well with the next, I loved it! Ruki's voice sounds better on this album, to me at least, then it did on Disorder. Not that it sounded bad on Disorder, but now it seems more ... mature? (I hate to use that word, but it's the only one I can think of that fits well). Anyways, this whole album seems like it'd be a lot of fun to listen to live, can't wait for more from Gazette (i.e. a DVD)!

Anyway... I've listened to some more of the tracks now, so... my random ramblings... for anyone who's got nothing better to do... read on... 😌

Maggots: I don't have a lot to say about this song... I found it 'likeable', but that was about all. Well, yeah. Errrr. That's it, really.

Nama ata takai ame tozaratsuita jounetsu (phew! gasp! did I spell it right?!): Yeah! I liked this track! The bass line was good, so was the melody, and the crunchy guitar bits did it for me. The pace was well kept up (did it speed up throughout the song or is that just me?), and the bass line was sustained at a good quality throughout. The guitar solo wasn't spectacular in terms of burning speed but it was good nonetheless and in keeping with the rest of the song. I like the layered vocals and barer strumming in the middle of the piece - it provided a break and contrast - and I thought the FX on the vocal at the end worked well, too.

D.L.N.: This began promisingly (although I admit to feeling some qualms about whether it would work out) and had a subtle but nice bassline. The vocals when they kicked in were pleasant enough, but not outstanding, and in all honesty I can't stand the backing vocals in the chorus. Maybe it's just me and my tastes but... just don't like 'em. The main guitar arpeggios I thought were potentially very good but somewhat masked. As a whole I found the song too repetitive and slow without enough contrast to keep my interest. BUT.... BUT... they then proceeded to zap me with a bass solo in the middle of this dreary murk! It makes a great redeeming feature - this song really needs something like that, and it got it. There's also a brief interesting drum break (blink and you miss it!). There is some good piano playing towards the end, but this too is masked by the dreary tune which I am getting tired of by this time...

I do have to say that Kai is really working his little socks off throughout this piece, and you can almost hear him trying his level best to lift it off the ground. Go Kai! Respect!

Shadow: I fell in love with this track as soon as it started. Bass! Need I say more! It's my favourite of the ones on this album that I've heard so far. The bass knocked me out and the guitar riff then proceeded to follow through and finish me off. The pace is great... so is the bass in the verses! And the bass solo! Yes! Wahay! Love! Happiness! Whoohoo! *cough* Sorry, I got a bit carried away there... This song has all the ingredients I like, and manages not to be too long or drag on - it keeps up the urgent pace and carried me along with it. The quieter, melodic vocals with twangy guitars at about 3 minutes made all the difference to this track, giving it an injection of refreshment. And the speaking voice at the end is tasty. Yum yum...

Baretta: This song nearly turned me off straight away. There were too many FX at the beginning for my taste, and the melody wasn't 'special' enough. But the drums at 45 secs got my attention, with interesting vocals too, and the song picks up some pace, and the bass becomes more prominent. I still find the melody a bit monotonous - but I'm kept on my toes by another change in mood at about 2/10......... followed by an assault of aural pleasure at 2/55 with an awesome bass solo followed by great drumming leading to a guitar solo.... I begin to revise my opinions of this song! ....... But, unfortunately, apart from the bass line which is still good, I don't like the ending of this song either... it's that damn melody... it numbs and dulls my brain... I'm sorry but try as I might I cannot love it... this song definitely has the best break, but Shadow remains my favourite so far.

That's as far as I've listened up to now.
I have to take my hat off to Kai. The drumming is really good throughout this album (so far) even though it hasn't been showcased enough. At some points it's all that keeps it alive for me!

I hope I don't sound too harsh on this album so far! It's not bad by any means! I'm just trying to write my opinions on the individual songs as I listen to them.... 😌

I still can't say a lot because I haven't heard anything more than Shadow and Cassis so far, but then about that um, change sort of near the end of the song.. xD That.. I found really neat. It made me giggle. xD

I'm going to listen to the stuff off that Myspace now. :D
 
I finally finished listening to the album!

Cassis: I like the intro, and I think it's probably the song with the best melody of the album. I didn't like the double-tracked vocals - I thought they sounded too artificial and as though the vocals were trying to compete with the density of the rest of the sound. In fact, I felt that the sound could have done with either less density for the style of song, or more pace. As it was, it felt a tad sludgy to me. The break at 2/50 was nice, though (although I'd have preferred the guitar with a bit less distortion at that point), and the song has some good arpeggios which it would be nice to hear more clearly. This song is alright but I got fed up with the tune, and there's not enough bass. (Sorry but I'm feeling particularly unintelligent this morning. Bleh.)

Silly God Disco: Haha! Errrr... nice intro. <snicker> I wrote down "what?!?!"... it's... interesting... It reminds me of some '90s pop song (can't remember what it's called ><) but somehow I like it! Hmmm, it doesn't grab me all the way through but I have to give credit where it's due for a 'departure'! There's also a nice little guitar solo with a bit of bass going on in the background.

Discharge: Mmmm, good start. Oh yeah - I like! This song is really refreshing. I like the way it doesn't give the impression they're trying too hard - it has a really natural sound. The vocals are good, and the small bit of contrast in the middle works well. It's fun and relentless, with a cool ending.

Taion: The intro was promising and the guitars, tasty. However, the heavier sections seem to oddly mutate into a slower, unsuccessful version of the previous track. During the quieter parts, I find the drumming a fraction too 'busy', which takes away from the potentially haunting quality of the melody and guitars in those sections. I'm not really liking this track; it seems un-coordinated somehow, it's too long, and the instrumental break is tame.

My verdict on the album as a whole: 7/10. Bath Room and Taion are the only tracks I actually don't like. The rest of them are pretty solid, and there are a couple of tasty moments in there. I think Gazette are on their way onward and upward to better things! I have to say, though, that their melodies are pretty poor IMO. Nothing wrong with Ruki's singing, which is absolutely fine, but the actual melodies themselves. It's just... not their strong point. I think they need to make more use of their excellent bassist, cut down on the production FX, and... relax and have fun! XD... Kai is the star of this album for me... as I've already said. :-)

Okay, so I've heard it all now but I don't think I'm good enough to write stuff for each song and of the like, but overall I just think it's sort of new and different from what Gazette did in the past and it's sort of neat but it makes me feel like something's missing because it's all sort of unfamiliar.
But it's all still very nice. ^_^v

Really? After listening to it I thought it was typical Gazette. I don't mean that in a bad way. It sounds like new material, but definitely seems like stuff they'd do. Like, nothing on this album stands out as exceptionally different from what I'd expect from them. I thought Toguro was a new sound for them, but that's not on this album so I guess it doesn't count, lol. I guess everyone hears albums differently though. I absolutely love the album, it's great!

i've finally heard the album now. and i think it is very good! i already loved nausea & shudder and kept going to preview it everytime :D I'm really glad the full song has even exceeded my expectations of it. 👍 it stands along with toguro as my gazette favourites now.

and about bathroom, i like it! Different opinions for everyone huh..Discharge reminded me somehow of Social Riot Machines, angsty and shouts in unison.

although i'd rather cassis be replaced with toguro.. for D.L.N., i really like the beginning, but then the chorus gets a little too much after i repeated the song.

Namaatatakai ame to zaratsuita jounetsu, it's catchy tunes makes me wanna dance or move around! 🕺 Nausea & Shudder and Shadow are definately my favourite tracks on this album! :good: and that's my first impression of the album 😄

i just saw the Shadow PV and only just noticed that PS Company change their name to Peace & Smile Music? why is it? :((i'm a little slow about these things ☝)

That's what I thought! xD Nausea & Shudder's all up there with Toguro as my favourites.

I didn't know abuot the Peace&Smile Music thing! O_O

there something about D.L.N.. i listen to it for a few more times and it really grows on me.. i don't know, maybe others think it is a little repetitive but now i really like that song! especially the opening guitar 😌 it connects to my feelings somehow. and now those children voices keeps getting stuck in my brain!
