long live Gazette! long live Gazette!

Personally I think its nice that they're younger. Most of the bands I like out there have members that are getting on in years. Not that I'm complaining. They're still hot as hell and I'd go after that in a second. But its nice to have a band more closer to my own age to love for a change. :-)

Makes me feel less like jail bait. lol

omg v.v.n your post totally cracked me up :D

hai hai, of course! the younger the better! (^^)b sometimes i think, there are so many bands out there, they are very lucky to get famous in a short period of time. it's a really good thing!

Yes I also think is good for bands to start out when they're young. It gives us more time to get to know them. Yay! :-)

It seems that I have missed the birthday-bash.... ☝  Oops.... 😌 Ehhh... I was busy (still am) with midterms and studying and a 5-day trip to a marine sciences center on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada.... Not that anyone here cares :D Anyways.... I wished Ruki a happy birthday yesterday anyways, and there are witnesses for proof XD But I will wish Ruki a belated happy birthday here just the same. ^^ *feels foolishly pathetic*

Anyways.... enough of my infecting... I shall leave the Gazette thread in peace and hopefully leave undetected XDDDD *has a feeling she won't get too far in that attempt*

lol i do read every posts here!!T___T lucky you, i wanna go on a trip like that! we're too poor though lol.

I didn't say you didn't.... It's not that expensive, I've been fundraising since grade 7, and it's with my school... Meaning I get to go with all the annoying, immature, and hyper-*** little b****es from grade 9.... 72 of them if I remember correctly. *whimpers* I am very glad that I am taking my music.... Otherwise, I will surely die.

Shadow? Is that from NIL?

So I'm back.. I've been checking this place every once in a while and I think everything has improved considerably. :-) I think I'm ready to start again since I think I'm a better person now. xD Hi to all the new people!

Happy birthday to Ruki, because I didn't get to post it on here yet.

Welcome back, first of all. ^^

I didn't think there were as many Canadians here as there are... I just said that because this is the Gazette thread, and my mini-rant about next week and where I will be was off-topic.

I just listened to this album called NIL (I guess it's their latest one), and I kind of liked it; it's not as good as Dir en grey but maybe I should listen to some more of their albums

Don't flame me for my opinions. I they are my opinions... they don't have to be yours. Anyway... these are my first opinions for the songs on NIL... I've only heard each one once except Cassis. I will say overall I expected better of Gazette.

THE END - the most annoying intro track I ever heard :angryfire

Nausea & Shudder - I find this song tolerable. I can't think of any other way to describe it. I can't really say I like it or not. It doesn't really strike me as special or anything and it doesn't stick with me. I definitely think that coming after such a horrible and hideous intro track they should have had a much stronger and catchy song come after THE END.

Bath Room - ok... anyone else starting to see hints of Linkin Park on this. what??? What happened to Gazette... I want Gazette rock. :angryfire well as the song goes it become more tolerable but then it goes back to ending with that Linkin Park-esque crap... I think Gazette has been listening to too much American music I swear

Maggots - Ok... this is probly my favorite song. I don't know why... I just like it... it made me laugh, too.

Namaatatakai ame tozaratsuita jounetsu - ok... I do like this one too. There's Gazette rock and Ruki really did hit puberty... if you don't believe me or thought I was joking just listen to this song... haha. Maybe he got a bit of vocal training. He seems to have a lot more 'control' of his vocals recently.

D.L.N - Pretty song... a bit long and drawn out... they started losing my attention. The album may have gotten off to a bad start in my opinion but it's getting better. I love the children's voices being used as backing vocals. It's a nice contrast between Ruki's voice... they almost sound angellic... and there's a nice little bass solo... :liplick: This is probly my second favorite song... it's the kind of slow song I was hoping for. Something a little reminescent of Sumire

SHADOW VI II I - This is gonna be the new single right? Why didn't they start with this one? This would have been a much better choice I think. It's much catchier and more Gazette-ish then Cassis... Cassis seems almost out of place among Gazette's singles. Once again a bit of a bass solo. I really think this would have been a good first single. Not too short... not to long and never loses your attention. About 3/4ths the way into the song prepare to laugh.

BARETTA - I'm not sure about this one... this song confuses me... it's strange the way it escalates from different styles... especially the vocals... the first time he switches is kinda irritating... it almost sounds like he's talking to a beat with a hoarse throat... but trying to sound... I don't know... are you trying to sound like rapist Ruki? :? :D but I guess it works ok...more bass... another little solo... yes... bass is all I notice first... I can't help it... I'm a bassist... :D the song eventually becomes tolerable... it end well despite the way it starts

Cassis - I still hold the same opinion on Cassis. I like it and it's a decent song, but it is certainly not one of my favorite Gazette songs. Everytime I listen wonder if the song ever ends... xD

SILLY GOD DISCO - ok... now I thought with a title like this it has to be fun... I was wrong... it's so funny. :D I love the bass and guitar... they must have been cracked out when they made this song... it was a brave attempt... attempting Gazette disco music... I commend you 🙂 :D

DISCHARGE - Yesss.... why aren't there more songs like this... 😍 I take back what I said about Maggots... I love this song best... it kind of has a similar effect on me as pink killer by Dir en grey... it makes me want thrash about in a padded cell in a straight jacket... :D Make more songs like this Gazette of else :angryfire

Taion - what happened... they started off bad and had to end bad didn't they... just when I thought the cd was decent... this song is way to long for the style of music it is. It seems slow paced too... it's an ok song. I really like the way it starts off but I'm not a fan of the chorus... anyone find this seems kind of System of a Down-ish at parts... STOP LISTENING TO AMERICAN MUSIC!!! :angryfire

so over all: I give it a 7 😍 out of 10. and 1 :angryfire out of 5 and 2  out of 5... in other words... it's an ok album and will probly grow on me enough to buy it.

hey it's the 8th in Japan, Gazette's new album should be released,
prepare to buy and worship!!!!!:D 📣 🌹

Whooo! :o
I haven't listened to NIL yet.... I want to hear it... Thanks for the quick review, PK! 🙏
It certainly sounds interesting enough to make me want to listen to it, anyway. I was hoping it wasn't so much a Cassis-y direction, because I'm not all that stuck on Cassis, so it sounds.... promising, at least. :p

Holy, you heard it already?!
Gosh, you're so lucky. >_<

...I liked the sample of Nausea & Shudder a lot.. o.o But then everyone's different, and I didn't hear the whole song yet so yeah.

As for when they sound American music-ish, is it sort of like Ellegarden? Well, technically Butterfly by Ellegarden since it's the only one I've heard from them..

okay..i skipped the whole review :cautious: maybe i'll listen to it first then come back and read it after just in case the thing spoil my anticipation..

Yaaaaay! Finally I got NIL! *capers about*

I have only listened to the first 3 songs, on my way to work this morning, though.

The End: I quite liked this track, although I could say the same thing about all of the 3 I have heard so far, "Could do more with it". It's one of those odd tracks that aren't quite complete on their own; I felt it went on for just a leetle too long. If they had done something else with it, I think it had the potential to be lifted beyond just a 'filler track', but... they didn't, so filler track it remains. Alternatively, I think it's a case of less would have been more. And the middle was unsatisfying - I kept expecting something else.

Nausea & Shudder: This song had something a bit more about it; I found myself sitting up a bit (mentally, you understand; I was walking at the time! ^^) and listening more carefully, but it didn't fulfil its promise. Individually, the lines were good enough, but somehow it's like a cake that doesn't rise; all the ingredients were right but something didn't quite work. Not that it's a bad song; it just doesn't have that 'zing' which makes me think "wow! I'm in love!" The melody is 'nice', and I did like the guitar riff which can be heard behind the verses - but once again, I feel that this didn't fulfil its potential either. The bass wasn't particularly evident in this song - maybe it would have worked a little better if they had held off on the guitar backing in one of the verses and put a deadly bassline there instead? As it was, I felt this track was a little lacking. The guitar solo was nice and refreshing, though; even though it wasn't spectacular I still enjoyed it.

Bath Room - When the intro started I first thought that it sounded promising, or at least a little different. When the first main drum beat started, my heart honestly sank into my boots. The only explanation I can think of is the horrible artificial-sounding hissiness of those drums. Why, why, why did they do that?!? *sigh* I suppose I'll never know... anyway, back to the track. I'll be frank. I can't stand this song. Towards the beginning I heard a promising bassline, and gave it as much chance as possible, all along hoping against hope that it would redeem itself with something spectacular basswise, but I was doomed to disappointment. The backing-vocal-thingies (whatever you call them <<) sounded the death-knell to this song which in case you haven't gathered, I did not like at all!

So my verdict so far........ tenterhooks. Will they do it, or won't they? Will one or more of the songs on this album reach out and grab me and take possession of my soul? Because you can tell even from these three that the potential is there (even leaving aside what I already know of Gazette's music). Or will I be left, as I was after these 3 songs, thinking "what a shame it didn't quite reach the heights they're capable of"?

Yea... I was really disgusted with Bath Room... I've listened to it a few more times and I'm still not impressed... not in the least. it's tolerable at best.
