Dear members,

I would like to inform you that I am going to upgrade the forum today/tonight to vB's latest - and allegedly revolutionary - version 3.5.1. The forum will be closed until further notice, the expected downtime should not exceed one hour.

Cool thomas!!! looking forward to the result!!! but don't take us off to long!

OK, the upgrade is complete. As a matter of fact, I had to revert all the templates to the default design, that's why we have lost a few modifications and hacks. Please give us a few days to restore the Japan Forum to its former glory.

If you encounter any problems or have any questions as to the new functions, please post these requests right here.

Thanks for your patience and understanding! :-)

It's all good Thomas ;-) Thanks for the update, we'll have patience, no worries 👍

???????????????humm??????????????

Don't see a "CHAT" room anywhere? Not that it was used a whole lot.

:?

Gosh, this is the third time I've thought I was going to "New Posts", only to click "Mark Forums Read", because it was where the "New Posts" link used to be. :( Otherwise, I guess it's ok.

well, i dont even have a new posts link on mine so :p

beige, err... wabi-sabi nowadays

edit: nevermind i found it...

also this editing thing is neat.

I have replaced the "New Posts" by "Today's posts". This way, active users who come more than once a day get all the posts, with the new since the last visit in bold. Other people can still go to "Quick Links" if they want to use "New Posts" (or "Subscribed Threads").

I have also restored most of the forum styles.

Good call, Maciamo. It makes sense, too, since there are always those posts that I mean to save for later after viewing the New/Today's Posts.

Thanks for the hard work, guys!

The update is great! But some pretty smiles got replaced by some others...

For example: 😊 << this should be that white smiley with red cheecks and hand on his mouth

Could you make them work again please? :(

The flag is next to the Report button, and All profile photo's are gone... Just letting you know.

change is good, its cleared things up a bit, especially the main page where it listed all members that have logged on in the past 24 hours or so, and now its gone; makes it look fresh.

A couple of times now I have forgotten to tick 'remember me' and have got thrown out after submitting a post. The first time was OK, it redirected me and my post had been, well... posted. Just now though it failed to redirect and I had to type the post again. :(

Yeah, I miss chat, too. I know that thanks to chat I personally was able to make some friends, and it makes it friendlier here, even if it's incredibly hard to find anyone using it! :p

I'd love to have chat back, too!

I was just starting to like the chat room.😭

I enjoyed talking to Frank (BTW where's Frank?), kirei and some others... I was looking forward to talking with Ma Cherie just before the change...

Also, I think some of the emoticons aren't working as they used too. (Especially this: "bluush")

Yes, I miss a lot of the smileys too. I don't like having 👍 in place of the thumbs up smiley... :(

I think that Frank is still having computer issues right now!

A few words from the management. :-)

@ smilies

We are going to upload the old smilies as soon as possible. It seems that not all of them have been ported over during the update. Patience. ;)

@ chat

Yes, we are going to reintroduce the JREF chat. As soon as I am certain which system to use, I'll give it a try. Promise.

@ new posts

I am going to customize the "New Posts" link/button, so that members can either query "actual" new posts since their last visit, Today's Posts or new posts per main forum.

@ other issues

- gaijin06: Do you still receive runtime errors?

- DutchBaka: we are aware of the profile pics. I suggest you just upload them once again. Sorry for the trouble.

Thanks for all the feedback, it is much appreciated! 🙂

Keep them coming.
