Hello, soon I will be in Japan for my very first trip. So, I've got a couple of questions.
  • Any recommendation for 1night (cheap) stay in: Kyoto , Osaka, Hiroshima?
  • Any recommendation on phone-renters (for 2 weeks). I saw some companies, but really, I'm not sure about which one should I rent in. I think I'll probably use it most for domestic calls.
  • Any suggestions on places with rock/pop/visual kei lives - in Tokyo/Osaka?
Thanks in advance for help.

  • How cheap is "cheap"? What is your budget?
  • Why do you need a cell phone for only 2 weeks on vacation? Do without and use the Internet if you absolutely must. People have traveled for hundreds of years without cell phones weighing them down.
  • Sorry, but I'm not into that music scene. I can recommend checking out Metropolis magazine online to see what is playing, but that is all. What is "visual kei", anyway?

I think "visual kei" is where they use outlandish costumes and actions to see engage your brain visually that it doesn't have a chance to notice how much the music itself sucks. You know....the post-MTV world where music is something you watch instead of something you listen to.

Post-MTV? Heck, I'm a pre-MTV person!
Video killed the radio star...which post-dates me as well!

Glenski, I find your post rude. I do not care about your rants on mobiles. I do not live few centuries ago and I definetely do not need to justify my actions to you. As to what is visual kei, you could type it in google/yahoo/bing and would get the image.

As for the first question, "cheap" is under 5000 yen.

My "rant" about mobiles is not something to get upset about. Seriously, why do you want to rent a telephone for 14 days in Japan? I honestly do not see the need. It was a sincere question, however you see it framed.

Accommodation for 5000 yen/night is very easily found. Go to any Google site for those cities, or ask on the Lonely Planet Thorntree discussion forum, or just open a guidebook. Tourist hotels or business hotels abound, and the prices are pretty much what you seek.

And, yes, I could have looked up visual kei, but I politely asked. I also gave you additional information that you could have checked, and you didn't even so much as acknowledge it. Thanks for being so rude yourself. You're not making friends here.

I don't need to be friends with you.

And in case you didn't notice "I don't need to justify my actions to you".

I see you're not very helpful, so just do a good deed and stop posting in this topic.

So still, the question is where you can rent phone in Tokyo.

I don't need to be friends with you.
I'm just so hurt!

And in case you didn't notice "I don't need to justify my actions to you".
Justify? The question about why you want a phone for 14 days abroad was straightforward and sincere, especially since it would be cheaper to use Internet cafes.

I see you're not very helpful
You don't see very well. Look around at other posts. Naw, I don't have to justify myself to you!

Sometimes I wonder if I have been an evil influence on you, glenski.

Thanks for info, undertide & epigene. ^^

I hope some mod can delete glenski's and mike's offtopic.

And Glenski - one final information for you: I didn't ask for an opinion if I need phone for 14 days, I've asked for the possibilities to rent. When you see no advantages of phone to mail... then it's not worth even discussing it with you.

My post was not off-topic. If you won't even discuss the so-called advantages, how do we know it's even necessary to recommend anything to you? But, there I go justifying myself again. Have fun on your trip.
