Just happened so not sure just what has happened. People are dead and injured. Like everything , it is total confusion and rumors out number the facts. Uncle Frank

Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

I'm watching the news right now on CNN. 2 Dead 51 injured. Some of them really injured including losing limbs. (Saw a photo on facebook of a guy without both legs). Absolutely horrible.

And the police seemed to have found some more explosives which are now being dismantled.

Just hope no more explosions claim more victims.

What because it was white westerners killed as a posed to a bunch of arabs?

22 people died in an Iraqi blast about a week ago. An incident that was only made possible because of the United States actions in Iraq.

An incident that is one of many

but 2 people die in America, better make it front page news.

but There is a serious stench of media hypocrisy in the air.

Well, it was a historical civilian event known throughout the world in a positive way. It's the Boston Marathon. It's sadder than just a McDonalds or something.

And you can call it hypocrisy all you want, but when a bombing happens on American soil, yeah, that'll be news for them more than something halfway around the world. I can't guarantee it, but it's likely if a British paper covers the story, they will take a soundbite from a Brit attending the marathon. People relate to those from their home.

I can totally agree that the deaths in the Middle East are drastically under-reported, and I can go one further, that Americans have had these wars far too easily, being able to basically pretend they weren't there, since there was no daily effect on people's lives. So it's kind of sad that Al Qaeda wasn't able to bring some back.

But then, we don't know who caused this, whether it has some connection to the Middle East, or some freedom-loving militia worried about the Communist president. Who knows. It won't die down in American media, because the next year, and possibly the next election will be all about blaming the Democrats for this attack on American soil.


It's a sad event any way you cut it.

For heaven's sake, can't we express a little compassion without getting cynical? This was an assault on a sports event, in a country that is not usually the target of bomb attacks. If a bomb explodes in the centre of Newcastle, it will get more media coverage than an attack on a market in Baghdad or Kandahar. That doesn't make any of these events less tragic. So let's discuss media hypocrisy some place else.

Poeple should care when civilians die.

It make me wonder what kind of person are you when you ignore the 100-200 deaths per day in Syria but since i know what and where you are from ORGINALLY i understand why.

Not a fan of 7stars and we have some rather nasty history, but I have to agree with him. I have not seen many outpourings of love and remorse for all the bombs going off in Iraq or Afghanistan. I have posted about some awful slaughters, and most of the responses have been rather meh to them and I have had to listen some excuse making for stupid crap that never should have happened.

But two dead at the Boston Marathon and dozens injured. But I am supposed to be all bleeding heart and sympathy for that as opposed to an Afghan wedding party that got bombed by U.S. predator drones?

Just don't think I support any of it. I especially do feel sympathy for that 8 year old boy who died. But that may only be because I don't know any specific details of the injured yet. Its pretty much always a sick fk or two or more behind tragedies like these. It just gets old when the sick fk gets an excuse for wearing a uniform or something. No excuses will be passed out for this, I know that already.

No, but we all know where this is going. The coverage will go on for weeks if not months. The double standard is freakish and disturbing.

In fact, we can do both. I see no reason to ignore one side of the coin for the other.
