Excluding a Poster from a single thread

To the Administrator...

I have started a thread based on Aztecan iconic symbolism and naming conventions that may have Japanese and Asian (and Egyptian/Greek) ancestries and parallels.

There is a well-meaning poster out there, named Bossel, who has repeatedly countered my sincere, amateur, theoretical, and touristy observations that I believe the vast majority of your readers would appreciate.

However, I feel Mr. Bossel is obsessed with UNANIMOUSLY dismissing my entire group of ideas, theories, guesswork, regarding the ancient, intercontinental diffusion of cultures.

I believe this obsession destroys my desire to submit ideas to this website, and in direct effect, cheapens this website into a thug match... My amateur ideas, versus his amateur ideas, net-net...everybody loses and I should quit? I should find another website?

I believe my previous threads, and this particular thread are significant historical observations, and may never have been displayed anywhere before, anywhere else in the world.

Or can you employ a simple exclusion... Mr. Bossel, and whoever comes in from that IP address, excluded from my thread.

Your thoughts?

You could put him on ignore - then he could still post but you wouldn't see it.

This should have really been sent as a PM to an admin rather than a thread IMO. On the subject I agree with Tsuyoiko, use the ignore option.

Thank you for your response, but no, it is not good enough that everyone can see a response to my sincerest effort to share a tourist observation... in my own thread contribution, but I wouldn't be able to see what that person had said to the world that dismisses my efforts.

I will not waste my time or effort.

In a museum, from the craziest pop art to the most classical works, do they let visitors scrawl comments over the top of your work?

Its too bad a forum-website doesn't allow a topic thread a "museum" atmosphere, an unconditional display of sharing, without derisive comments that can cheapen the work, and that make me suggest... its not worth it.

Cancel me alltogether... I believe my contribution has something of interesting value for 99.9% of the viewers, and I don't want one person to graffitti over the top of it to ruin it for all of us, in my opinion, as he has done on my previous threads.

I also think this should've been done via PM rather than post it like this. Maciamo and/or Thomas(or any other team member) could've easily been PM'ed about this.

I've read the very threads you're referring to, and I just see a debate. I don't see where bossel has been out of line.

As Mike Cash says, you put up opinions on a public forum, you should be prepared for them to be challenged. We can do something about the way they're challenged, but I haven't seen any kind of personal attacks or blatant disrespect that would warrant any action.

You know one can read this post here and safely come to the conclusion that you have a very high opinion about your work. If this message board allowed people to block out one poster or another as you are requesting, you would be guilty of censorship. You assume much that 99.9% of the people here will find value in your post.

The other posters suggesting you use the ignore function is proper.

Otherwise you need to run your own board and then you can make up the rules. But IMHO with an attitude like that all the posts would be a conversation of one.

I think that in all the few years that I have been posting, I have reached a point wherein my very best work, which I do not believe has ever been publicized, needs a more sensitized atmosphere.

Not to take anything away from a truly wonderful website, offering comments and criticisms, most often valid, but I think I need a museum presentation as opposed to a ??? what is the word... "hit or miss"... wherein injury to my information or to my credibility can occur.

So, thank you all, it has been wonderful.

Not to take anything away from you and your work, IMHO you sound like you a need a location to place your work where there is no interference from people who may have an opinion, thought or idea other than the one that you are putting forth. Is that a fair assesment of your needs?

Do you think that this type of open forum is the proper location for such work? I would suggest, if money is an issue about starting your own web site, to try to look for a free web based server that fits your needs.

Then you could post whatever you wished and you would have the freedom to continue your work without interference.

Yet to expect an open forum such as this, that has the express purpose of the free exchange of thoughts and opinions to create a place for work such as yours comes across as an imposition upon the users here. I wish you well.
