For whatever reason Dubai Chocolate seems to be all the rage. Where can I buy some near Shibuya?
 
I'm sure whatever is sold in Japan won't be the real thing but probably more agreeable to my palate anyway. I read the original is extremely sweet.
 
My wife left for a business trip to the UAE today. She's been instructed to procure as many samples as possible. :LOL:
 
I've just returned from a break in Copenhagen and this stuff is on sale everywhere! A bar of it is about £20 compared to prime chocolate being about £10. I haven't bothered because I'm pretty sure it's been über-hyped and if it does live up to that, I don't want another potential unhealthy addiction!
 
I found some at Seijo Ishii based on a tip. Incredibly expensive but I bought the two types they had -- Japanese-made and Turkish-made.
Tried the Japanese one yesterday. It was just "ok." Definitely not worth Y700/30 grams.

So the obsession is a bit like those people who queue outside Apple Shops for the latest telephone because Apple have 'throttled' the speed of their current phone to 'conserve the battery' 🤔

What's wrong with Mars Bars?
 
So has anybody formed a further opinion of Dubai chocolate after a few weeks?
 
Ah, I completely forgot about that.

Here's what my wife brought from Dubai:

That particular selection wasn't from Dubai's premium range (which would have set her back around 40,000 yen for a similar quantity). While it was decent enough, I still prefer taiyaki.
 
Nothing tastes so good as to justify a high prices.

I had a friend who wouldn't pay anything less than £90 for a bottle of wine! I think it's vulgar and it's just 'sour grape juice' in my opinion.
 
It's clearly a rather transparently stupid marketing ploy where they're thinking, if everyone just buys one bar we'll be rich! None of the ingredients appear particularly expensive or tasty, but those trendy people who have to be part of a new trend and make videos of it, have clearly lapped it up. 🙄
 
I thought the samples I bought in Japan were good and I'd buy more if the prices were normalized. Not really the same thing but I'd much rather have Melty Kiss or Royce nama choko.
