Do you like anko?

I love anko... but I do not like Unko...
There is this lady on one of my Elementary schools, and she always gives me Omiyages and last time she gave me some really delicious anko!

Red bean paste is used in many Japanese sweets, such as:

Anmitsu (an and jelly)

Anpan (an and bread)

Daifuku

Dango

Dorayaki (azuki bean pancake)

Manju

Oshiruko or Ozenzai (azuki bean soup)

Taiyaki

Uirō (a traditional Japanese steamed cake)

Yokan (red bean jelly)

I am fine with red bean paste as long as it's not too sweet for my tongue.

Oh....my god,I crave uiro ( Japanese steamed cake ).I always buy 1 dozen or 2 whenever local Mitsuwa has Mochi festival with excellent varieties on sale.

Zenzai

I had a delicious dessert at a small restaurant along the 'Philosophers' Path', a few years ago, made of azuki beans and called Zenzai. It's thicker than the shiruko that I've had in Tokyo.

Does anyone know where I can find this dish in Tokyo? ☝ I have a craving for it now.

Ah! I've been to Takemura; the cream anmitsu there is fabulous. I've forgotten about it since it was so long ago. I think the shop might be from the Meiji era. I'll have to go there again soon and have the zenzai.

BTW, for those who don't know, cream anmitsu could be best described as a Japanese banana split (w/o banana or ice cream).

I LOVE Anko, its like my favourite dessert (or at least one of), last night I had Dango with Anko as the topping, even though it was store bought it was so nice I kept on thinking about it afterwards That was the first time I had it with Dango, I usually have An-pan, I don't know the exact name but I usually have the ones with black sesame seeds on top.
