Diaoyu island is a part of China.

We could always take couple showels and dig these islands to the ocean. No islands - no problem.
Piece and prosperity for everybody.

This is an interesting article about the recent happenings around China
Battle for the Pacific: Naval arms race in the China Sea - thestar.com

I was a bit surprised that there were no posts or new threads on this for so long. Oops, and I just noticed that def's post is from Dec 2012 not Dec 2013! So it really has been a while. China has created an Air Defense Zone, where the US&Japan already have one. This is getting interesting.

A few days later, a Filipino marine archeological expedition was shut down by the Chinese air force. This has never happened before.

It's Japanese territory - it's owned and administrated by Japan, so stop trying to invade it.

I have mixed feelings about the ADIZ. On one hand, Japan made her very large ADIZ long ago with no discussion with anyone. Japan's ADIZ is closer to neighbors in many places than it is to Japan. In 2010, Japan unilaterally extended her ADIZ into that of Taiwan, creating an overlap. (pro-Japan folks desperately avoid that fact).

On the other hand, I believe this is the first time China ever created an ADIZ, correct me if I am wrong. I know it is directed at bolstering their claim to the Senkakus, and while that looks dirty, you also have to consider that China has as much right to an ADIZ as anybody and that it was Japan that started this sort of hocus pocus legal maneuver to make land claims. China is just playing the dirty game now, despite themselves, after seeing Japan gain from it and get away with it.

I don't have a problem with China's ADIZ because its not a technical legal claim to territory and a country in China's position has a right to know about aircraft approaching their country, a right established by the actions of American and Japan, etc. But China's ADIZ over the Senkakus is too large. It overlaps too much. And it seems the rules to fly in their are too over-reaching compared to the rules of American and Japan.

But, once again, it just seems like China is upping the ante that America and Japan chucked on the table. I don't like China's response, but it must be accepted that his IS A RESPONSE to bull crap laid down by American and Japan and not yesterday, but years ago. China is just belatedly responding in kind plus some. But they did not start this fire.

I wish both sides would stop with the bull crap. In fact, I wish they would both back track on it, fix the situation, and play right.

Slip of the century. Both sides sure want a piece of the prosperity they imagine will come from these islands. I sure wish they wanted PEACE more than a piece of the prosperity.
