Dating sites for an evening out in Tokyo

I am still new to Tokyo. I know there are many members here who have been in Tokyo longer than me. Here is the question I would like to ask.
I am trying to set up a dinner date. I was introduced to her through my colleague (she is not working at the same company I work for) and had an initial group dinner.
Now, I have to come up with the itinerary for the night out. Can someone suggest a restaurant and a live music club or something after that dinner? She has to go back to her home in Saitama. So, I have to wrap up the night around 9 to 10 p.m. (this is the first meeting after that group setting). I think Shibuya or Shinjuku would be a venue I am considering.

Thank you, Herbal. I will refer to the references you posted. For my next week's date, I asked her to give her suggestion (I know I am not taking the commonly treaded path of "guy-suggestiong-the-night-out-plan."ﾂ I admit I have cheated by asking my date for her suggestion.) I think I will go to Ginza as her suggestion. I just told her I am not familiar with Tokyo as I am more familiar with New York/Ner Jersey.
 
haha, well your welcome, and im glad i could be in good use! I'll hear more from you when the date approaches! And be gentile if she's still single then take it easy and maybe it will be a good date ^^b
 
My memory is hazy so sorry if this isn't helpful, but I know a really good restaurant in Shinjuku called Asian Kitchen. It's on the upper floor of a pretty non-descript looking building outside the station.

You exit the station by heading out the South exit and hanging a left, or just hang a left inside and exit farther along (passing the soup kiosk), but either way you end up at the SE corner near the escalators and Tower Records. Go down to the street, you'll see a Green Pea pachinko parlour. Hopefully you can envision where I mean. You hang a left so you're heading North towards Kabukicho. Along that street there's an island in the middle and it's either bicycle parking or a ramp to parking or something, but you veer right. Look for signs for 'Asian Kitchen', it's either the 7f or 9f floor. Once you find the right building, go in the entrance and hang a left, there should be some gold/silver metallic elevators.

The place is large, it's kind of tropical-themed, there tables and huts, they have alot of food and drinks, and every time I've been there it's been quite lively. Lil pricey but that's Tokyo for you.

Immediately around Shinjuku station there's a small bar/coffee shop I know of that's neat, they have food there too. If you go out the West exit you head down the alley with the huge light-up cube (if its still there) between Odakyu and Keio department stores. It's past the chocolate stores, it's on the left side. I think they do Tapas too. It's kind of a classy lookin place with red walls and it's usually dimly lit, small but not bad.

If she lives in Saitama, Ikebukuro might be convenient because the train from Saitama lets off there. Then again she may have been to Ikebukuro many times, kind of a gamble.

Well, I can only imagine because I've never been there.

anyway I'm not Japanese (neither the user who create this threat) so I think it's fine xD.

Interesting observation. I will reason it out to the majority of guests who visit there, but not the total number of guests.

Now, if I were to date a girl who had grown up, and still lived in Tokyo...as I really kind of wish I could...I would take her OUT of Tokyo for that date !! For sure, I'd go out into nature.

I were to take a girl from the country side, or who had not grown up in Tokyo, nor, really, in the big city, I'd take her to the shopping plaza on the island with Fuji Television (I think it is?) where there is the open sky painted and all lit up on the ceiling of the hallway. Then, for a night view of Rainbow bridge after a nice dinner with fine cuisine and very special red wine and roses.

Then, I'd drop her back off at her place, leaving with nothing more than a soft, 'I'm-thinking-about-you-and-I-care' kiss and embrace.

I have never dated in Tokyo before.
 

Ah, that's Odaiba area, and the shopping mall you mentioned is Venus Fort.
It's a nice place, there are many shops that girls like, and nice restaurants too. There are several other shopping malls in Odaiba and Ferris Wheel if one wants to go for something very romantic!

As for the "nature", there are many nice parks, gardens and botanical gardens within Tokyo.

OH thank you so much undrentide chan !! Now all that is missing is the date ! ah shucks....

Anyway, I do want to go check out that shopping area, and especially the ceiling mural. When I was in highschool I did a mural like that one my ceiling, and then one of the school's cheerleaders asked me to do one on her ceiling--which I did (I think her parents were a little concerned at first, but soon got used to it...I spent some three to four late afternoons and evenings there at their house, in a neighborhood where European Americans seldom frequented)

Those do look like nice natural places to date too !! I do agree that a nature-surroundings date is good, maybe part of the date should be in such an area. OH..and if a guy (or girl for that matter) purposes marriage, it should surely be in such an area.

Mars Man, udrentide, ah your discussion brings back memories! Odaiba is GREAT, I've actually had the pleasure of taking a lady there and losing track of time wandering around, shopping, tasting stuff, etc. Lots to do and see! There's also a nice buffet restaurant in the area (it's on the same street where the train lets off, before you cross the expressway and make the 5 min walk to the main area). IIRC its on the 3F or 4F and overlooks the water. Once you walk over the Toyota building is there too, something for the guys if your date is gracious and doesn't mind you checking out the vehicles and racing exhibits.

The arcade there is huge too, a great place to win stuffed animals if your date is into that stuff. Most Japanese girls are for some reason. Get's expensive if you're not good at them! Tip: If they still have the XL size super-plush flying squirrels with the huge eyes, those things are really light and easy to win
 
Or just improvise something. Do something fun, go to the mall, go roam the streets of Tokyo and get into a mom-and-pops restaurant. Then afterwards go take a walk to the river and chat, go do Purikura (don't come on to me on your age), Japanese people love it, no matter what. Don`t try to impress her, just be natural and the date will flow better.

I'd recommend "Sunshine City" in Ikebukuro.
-> It's not that far from Saitama
-> A lot of things to do there: Shopping, aquarium, planetarium, nice view over Tokyo, a lot of restaurants,...

I actually went there with my boyfriend twice. Although he is Japanese and male i always have to make a plan for the dates
 
Thanks for the recommendations. I decided not to keep dating this Japanese girl as she was too "traditional" Japanese for me. Anyway, are those suggested venues listed on this thread applicable for a night out with a western or Singaporean girl?

PS. In an interest not to cause misunderstanding, I have added "traditional" in my comment above.

You may be in the wrong country if you're finding Japanese girls 'too Japanese' for you.

If the date went poorly I'm not sure if you'd automatically have more success with a western or Singaporean girl either. I say this simply because Japanese girls are traditionally quite polite, so if your dating skills are rusty it will become even more apparent with someone who's less afraid to outwardly display their boredom.

I might suggest that the location rarely makes the date, it's up to the interplay between the two parties involved. That's why people often go to simple places like parks and coffee shops instead. The spontinaeity of ducking into the first cozy place you both agree on and having a nice chat will always be superior to the act of going to a specific, 'magical' location and praying it all works out.
 
Huh? Maybe next you will find a Western girl too Western for you!? Singaporean girls are too Singaporean for you.
 
I always envisioned those dinner boat cruises on the Sumida River would be a good place for a date. Anyone try one out?
