In Xenforo 1, we used post reactions to allow members to rate content via a third-party add-on. Xenforo 2.1 has introduced a native reaction system similar to the one popularised by Facebook. Content ratings have been implemented for almost all types of content: posts, profile posts, articles, blog entries, reviews, and media. Today, we uploaded new reaction icons.

The following type of reactions have been implemented:

  • Like: positive
  • Love: positive
  • Haha (formerly "Funny"): positive
  • Wow: positive
  • Sad: neutral
  • Angry: neutral
  • Agree: positive
  • Informative: positive
As has been discussed several times and based on several unfavourable experiences in the past, we decided not to allow negative ratings.

Some people just don't recognize talent or they feel only their thoughts and opinions can be the correct ones. As dear ol mom used to say , if you can't say something nice , shut your darn mouth!
 
No negative reactions, how could it be? :O
 
On first glance, it seems to me that the formatting of the content ratings can be significantly improved. As it appears now, it looks too similar to quoted text.

For one thing, it should appear at the very bottom of a post, without white space below it.
 

Thank you for your feedback! You are right: the reactions bar used the same style properties as quoted text. I have therefore removed the dark-coloured left border. In fact, I do quite like the floating reactions bar; we used a similar design on XF1 (with drop-shadows, not border colours):



However, I do look forward to more feedback.
 

Actually, when I wrote "it should appear at the very bottom of a post", I was referring to the box displaying already-assigned content ratings (i.e., ratings that various members have awarded), which, at the time I wrote that, was not bottom-formatted (i.e., in posts with lots of white space, the box appeared above that white space).

But this has already been taken care of since then, and now it is bottom-formatted, so I am satisfied! Thanks.
 
We have added another icon to our selection of content reactions: a simple "Thank You" (see below, far right). We hope it will be used extensively.
