I recently installed a japanese ASUS motherboard and my computer isn't exactly working anymore. So I'm using a crappy gateway. Would anyone happen to have an explanation for what happened?

More info please. Define 'not working'

I set the motherboard up. I checked the power supply, I have everything plugged in and when I started the computer the computer went up in smoke.

did the cpu make smoke??In case it did..it's prolly the cooling paste that burned..no worries!!It nearly gave me a heartattack once when I was doing a job for school, luckely the boss fixed it...cause it was an expensive puter ...

Yeah I wiped it off and put some new on it. It's working great now.

I'm glad it was just the cooling paste. I was afraid that my new AMD Athlon FX-53 processor was screwed.

If you remove the heatsink clean it with alcohol and replace the cooling paste. Everytime.

I have an ASUS motherboard (purchased in Japan), but I thought ASUS was a Taiwanese company.....ain't it?

Yeah but I purchased it in Japan, that's why I said it was japanese.

How do computer hardware (motherboard's, hard drives, etc) prices in Japan compare with those in the US. Assume that you're bargain hunting in Japan, but still looking for current stuff (not old bargain bin stuff)?
