Circumventing a ban

This might seem more appropriate to the Serious Discussions section. However, as Chit Chat can only be viewed by logged in members, I decided to put it here so that random people would not be able to use the information against this very site. I have no trouble here, so I don't want to make any for JREF.

I have been banned from two sites and I find these bans to be completely unfair and completely politically motivated. I have established new accounts on these sites before, and it was usually just my own words that got me banned again as they recognized my opinions and writing style etc.

But it seems their methods have improved. Some information from my computer is giving me away. Before, simply creating a new e-mail address, deleting cookies and changing my IP address was enough, but no longer. (I used to turn my router on an off for a new address, but also I have used Platinum Quick Hide IP to get a foreign address). I know that if I use a different computer, they cannot identify me except by my own words and actions. So what is it on my computer that identifies me to them and what can I do about it?

The core site I wish to continue posting at is Japan Today. And before you get into what a dive of political oppression the place is, yes, I know. Pretty much any site is these days with all the racists, bigots, trolls and miscreants who seem to be the majority at discussion sites these days. But I do feel the need to counter-act idiocy as much as I may be banging my head against the wall.

It's their website, if they don't want you to be there by banning you. Then you don't have the right privilege to be there.

It's like going to a house party and start arguing with the other guests because you think they're idiots, then the host kick you off the property, you feel injustice so you disguise yourself and go back to the party and starting arguing with the other guests again.

The same could be said of so many things in the world.

But I have changed opinions on that site and have convinced people to stop giving in to moderator harassment, at least a little bit.

Every time I go I can see a bit of my influence. For example more people now understand that pedestrians on the road more often get themselves into accidents. Before, they used to blame the driver of the car near 100 percent of the time. Also, many refuse to call a teenager a "child", which I think is a vital distinction if anyone is going to understand age of consent related issues or humanity and sexuality in general. And there is more.

It's their website, if they don't want you to be there by banning you. Then you don't have the right privilege to be there.

I disagree. The site advertises discussion and is open to the public. Its not anything like a private house at a private residence. I can understand them throwing out people who just make trouble and disregard the written rules of behavior. That is not what they do. They ban you for breaking unwritten rules concerning their political leanings and treat my real, honest opinions as trolling because they disagree.

They do not inform their members of what is being done to other members or why. Posts just vanish and they do not explain. Users just vanish and they do not explain. They will not put in the rules the sort of opinion that will get you banned despite the fact that I have asked. They are sowers of lies and do not offer discussion but rather a certain conformity. I feel obligated to fight these people if in words only.

Edit: Over there now is a discussion about Abe's recent Nazi remarks. The comments went on for over 100 posts of slinging mud at Abe and accusing him of agreeing with Nazi methods on constitutional reform before you see posts pointing that that in fact what Abe said is that we have to beware that the constitution is not altered like they did.

I find it a bit hard to believe that it would actually take so long for people to cop on. In fact, what I think happened is that they decided to ride the wave and they eliminated posts or handed out major negative scores to posts that would have slowed down the traffic by telling everyone the simple truth that they had it backwards.

I believe it is the moderators harassing the user named bluescript for example who regularly has posts marked at -28, which is not possible to get legitimately. You have to post a plain old troll tirade to get -10 legitimately.

They are so secretive I really don't know. I only know of the editor, Chris Betros, and he likes to blame everything on the moderators and claim he was outvoted and such, that is, if he even deigns to sent you a message.

They really don't like to tell you anything, because they know if they do, you might present a valid point, and then they will have to wrestle with their conscience. That is also part of my reason for going back, trying to get to their conscience. Not as successful on that though!

It seems that anyone with a conscience was booted long ago. First they were regulated to the forum section, then the forum was closed down. Chris, or someone, has surrounded themselves with a cabal of dedicated sheep who do what they are told. Its similar to how the users are being culled. Its really a sick place when you get to know it as well as I have.

I would be just as happy to see it close down.

ccleaner from Piriform seems to have done the trick with one forum. CCleaner - PC Optimization and Cleaning - Free Download

I did not erase any system temp files, only things that were marked by the program as related to my browser.

I will try again at Japan today and see if the mod will pass my post. I could register and get the text box before, but not get mod approval.

If not, I will have to erase those temp files.

Also, I encourage anyone to make a fake facebook account and use that to log on to JT. I think they like it when people use facebook to log on, so less scrutiny.

I think I am probably way below the average ban buster learning curve though and I expect its them who would give me ideas.

There were times we had dozens of Chinese spammers a day. And our infamous Korean toilet troll. Those were the happy days of Uncle Frank.

Nowadays, most of them get caught by the spam prevention gadgets we employ here at the forum. One thing is certain: the amount of spam a forum receives usually corresponds to its popularity.

....I really am feeling retired. I miss the days of bagging SPAMMERS and trolls , LOL. As for re-banning banned members , no matter what they do , if they post , you can spot them. If the IP is from an outfit that hides IP's that is a good sign something is up. If not that many members join each day , a banned member who joins soon after being banned is spotted easily. If they post in the same areas as the posts that got them banned , it is easy to spot them. If the topics they post are similer to the ones that got them banned , it gives them away. Sometimes it is just a gut feeling , you just know it's a banned member returning.

If the IP is from an outfit that hides IP's that is a good sign something is up.

I was surprised to find that some sites' software automatically knows you are using a proxy and will not let you do anything. Hushmail does that. Its very easy to make a new account (even easier than mail.com used to be) but they will not let you make one if you use a proxy.

If not that many members join each day , a banned member who joins soon after being banned is spotted easily. If they post in the same areas as the posts that got them banned , it is easy to spot them. If the topics they post are similer to the ones that got them banned , it gives them away. Sometimes it is just a gut feeling , you just know it's a banned member returning.

Yeah, I have figured all these out, so I try to refrain from posting where I posted before, avoid subjects I am known to post about at least for a while, use usernames that are completely counter to the themes of my posts., leave weeks or months between making new accounts, make multiple accounts at the same time, then use one but sparsely at first (while the other gets banned) and post only short messages where I do not usually post, then let the posts get longer and more like myself etc.

But, eventually I get spotted, and sometimes its by the damned members who don't know better than to keep their mouths shut. Like we are having a fine conversation not even bickering then "Hey, aren't you that guy that got banned?" Me: "Uh...no."....banned.


The TOR network seems more functional than a simple proxy, but man it is slow, even just for posting text, but still, it does not work for some sites either. And your IP will not remain stable.

Anyway, I cannot say I am ashamed of anything I have posted. I have never gotten to the point of Frustrated Dave's posts as far as I can remember, although we all know I can be a bit insulting. Yet I have often apologized for that and edited posts as requested. It really has to be my opinions that get me banned.

My latest banning, and first banning for that site, was for posting to all the gun lovers/ rabid Obama haters there (cause they all seemed to be the same people) something like "For all you guys swearing you need your guns to defend the country, and for all your whinings about Obama destroying it and being a tyrant, I notice none of you have taken a shot at Obama yet". Not sure why that got me banned because I was instantly locked out of everything. I had to make a new account just to get an explanation, and all they did was let me know which was the offensive post and they banned that account too. And the next one innocently asking for an explanation. So I don't know. They won't discuss it the ignoramouses. I suspect they think it was inciting unlawful behavior, but I never suggested anyone do anything, I was just pointing out the hypocrisy. And you know what? If I said that none of us should hesitate to assassinate the next Hitler, that would be allowed, and some are calling him the next Hitler. It would probably be allowed to express support for the assassination of JFK. So what gives? I don't know. I am on the edge of making an assassination/ armed insurrection thread because of that experience, cause you just know darn near everyone will say that several men in history deserved to be assassinated.

People have to pay to register for a website, they spend money and time to develop their website, it is public in that you can view their website, but if you want to register as a forum member on their website, it is a privilege they have give you, and they can take that away from you at any time for whatever reason they want, regardless if you feel if they they banned for some "unwritten rule" or for some political reason. They can ban you even if they don't like the name Mark, it's their right, they don't have to inform you, they don't have to justify it to you.

It's just like a private property, a shopping more would be a better analogy. You can enter a shopping mall as it is open to public, but once you start arguing with people for no good reason, you can be asked to leave at anytime, as you no longer have the permission to stay on their private property, if you refuse, that would be trespassing.
