News Chiba JHS students save woman from harassment

The Kisarazu Police Station commended four 15-year-old students from Sodegaura High School in Kisarazu for assisting a woman facing harassment. The students, Soma Watanabe, Ryuga Negishi, Kiran Nakajima, and Taiki Matsuda, all members of their school's soccer club, demonstrated remarkable teamwork in aiding the woman, earning them letters of appreciation from the Chiba Prefectural Police on 14 June.

According to the students, they spotted what appeared to be a couple arguing on the street at the JR Kisarazu Station east exit on the evening of 26 May. Because the 20-year-old woman appeared bothered, they asked her what was going on, to which she replied that she didn't know the man. They intervened between her and the man to stop her from being harassed. The group also surrounded the 38-year-old man so that he would not run off and asked a passerby to call the police. The man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of engaging in indecent acts without consent. The four were on their way home from a soccer game in the prefecture of Ichihara, where they had been helping with the event.
