Can we use the particle de instead of the particle to.

e.g. will this be the correct :

jiyon-san wa otoko no jin de, ratana-san wa onna no jin desu

instead of

jiyon-san wa otoko no jin to, ratana-san wa onna no jin desu

I think you have to have an action to have the partical で to mean with in that case.

For example
Jiyonsan otoko no Jin de ratanasan onna no jin wa telebe wo miteimasu.

Jiyosan (the man) was watching television with ratanasan (the woman)

You use "de" here anyway don't you? You can't use "to" there for it to mean "and" I'm sure.
And aren't we all missing the fact that it's otoko/onna no hito or am I the one missing something?

"jiyon-san wa otoko no hito de, ratana-san wa onna no hito desu" = "Jiyon-san is a man whereas Ratana-san is a woman"
This is the only correct sentence. Also that "de" is not a particle but the "te" form of "desu," I believe.

No?

jiyon-san wa otoko no jin de, ratana-san wa onna no jin desu

instead of

jiyon-san wa otoko no jin to, ratana-san wa onna no jin desu

De here is the te form of da. Allows you to continue the sentence. Otherwise you will have to end the first clause before starting the next one.

To cannot be used unless you turn both clauses into nouns and it will have different nuance.

ジヨンさんは男のひとであることとラタナさんは女のひとであること。

Sorry my mistake. I was getting mixed up with the partical de instead of the declarative da.

Thanks.

What is the te form?

Te-form is essentially a conjunctive verb form. It's often used to attach auxiliary verbs to main verbs, or as in the sentence above, to link clauses together like "and". Used by itself at the end of a sentence it can mean "please <verb>".

It has many uses and is really quite important to learn.

Constructing te-form depends on the kind of verb you're dealing with.

Irregular verbs + copula:
です / だ > で
する > して
くる > きて

ru / る / ichidan (一段) verbs: drop る and replace with て

u / う / godan (五段) verbs:
Ending in う, つ, or る: drop the final syllable and replace with って
Ending in む, ぶ, ぬ: drop the final syllable and replace with んで
Ending in く: drop く and replace with いて
Ending in ぐ: drop ぐ and replace with いで
Ending in す: drop す and replace with して

Here's another explanation.
To combine clauses or adjectives, as if by the English conjunction "and". For example:
薬局へ行って薬を買う yakkyoku e itte, kusuri o kau: "(I am going to) go to the pharmacy and buy medicine."
あの人は親切で頭が良くて分かり易い ano hito wa shinsetsu de, atama ga yokute, wakariyasui: "That person is kind, smart, and easy to understand."
安くていいね yasukute ii ne: "It's good that it's cheap." (lit. "Being cheap, it is good."

Also, it's Jon-san, not jiyon-san.

Also, Jon-san wa otoko no hito to, Ratana-san wa onna no hito desu isn't a proper sentence.
